Danger Kingfisher Airlines (India)

To whom it may concern...

...Just resign from Kingfisher due to lack of payment of simulator training expenses (JAA licence renewal).
This agglomeration of planes (company) lives from the great job done by the marketing department... maybe the only one doing a good job there...
The operations department is a joke (the ops manager send you mails saying that all the cap. can be rostered to fly on the rh seat and the CFA is the one ordering the boarding...sometimes you arrive with the f/o at the a/c with all the pax seated...) the maintenance doesn't register on the teclog the weekly inspection and when you arrive at the a/c you don't have teclog available, only after the refuel they bring it to you... you already start the boarding ordered by the CFA without you know... the rostering department is a day by day basis and you get one day off in each 7 days... About papers... well ...they are the world biggest paper lovers I have seen after work in 4 continents... I have see a paper with 2 pics of me on the same side... About the food well... I just come with less 5 Kg, that's nice if the diarrhea is not the method... no meat... I become veg... About the country remind me Africa 20 years ago... but they are improving... Nice and humble people... but what a lack of organization... they lose for the Chinese in everything related with airline business (I have worked 4 years to the Chinese)...

I flew the A320 series and the selection is done in Kuala Lumpur.

But the Sim expenses I talk about is not that one, is the annual sim that need to be done in JAA aproved center... That I have pay by my self waiting them to pay back!...

If there is no need for them to keep your JAA license current, why do you think they should pay for that? Is it in the contract? Do you fly with a validation?

Of course I fly with a validation and of course is in the contract they should pay SIM and I pay medical... what other reason to wright???

renewing JAA licence in Kingfisher

Hello !
I have another sim related question -I am ATR captain - they do recurrent sims 2x a year ?
And once it is time to renew JAA licence (once a year), do they have some JAA inspectors flying there who can do the sim with you on some approved sim or how it typically works, what is the most convenient way expats use to renew the licence ?
I fly now for european airlines with own TRTO so have no idea how they deal with renewing the licences.

If you were a contractor, what did your agency have to say? Which contractor was it?

About the JAA SIM, at the moment for the A320 fleet I have come Europe and make a SIM in an JAA TRTO with a JAA TRE I have pay all the expenses... and claim.... KFA always say in the end off this week or the begining of the next one...

The contractor try to get the money from them and mail to me and FW to them, that "...I'm reason to stop fly because it takes to long..."
All the expenses I have for the screening in NOV last year in Kuala Lumpur, Have been credit by KFA not by the contractor... so I supose will be the same with this SIM... any way I also think the contractor have responsability in this matter... but I just leave without the notice period been given so....

Good luck in your new job search.
Managers never learn the price of changing a pilot.
About one week ago I found an airline manager of my ex-airline and showed
him how much I was saving per flight regarding flight time, fuel, etc.
I was able to get this data regarding 3 months of operation.
Only then he realized the amount of money involved, of course his airline is going down with operational costs and of course shares already fallen 4 weeks in a row.
The cost of transforming an airline into a type rating school.
Every time an experienced pilot is lost an airline looses as whell.
In your case for sure the money involved for the licence for sure could esally offset the cost of trainning another guy to fly in the same area.
That is called route experience and also has a value.

They don't know and I think they also don't care...
As they get the good salaries for them they just ignore the aim of the question!... Fortunatly I have 25 years in the business...
I also don't care
I'm now in Italy... having a good life...... much better conditions

KFA SIM assessment

Hi,
I am trying to find some information about the Kingfisher assessment. Do you know anything about the selection process.

What kind of questions during the interview?
What is the simulator profile?
What kind of questions as tech exam?

Clearly you have not read the above posts about Kingfisher Airlines. Have you read it and you continue to be interested in this complete lack of organization? I say give them 5 years to improve (perhaps just a little) because they need to build an adequate infrastructure. I have heard several stories like this one. India is like the wild wild West and some airlines are much better organized than others. Be careful in your selection.

If the company is in shambes now, what is going to happen when they take delivery of 6 A320s, 12 ATRs, 5 A330s and 5 A340s in the next 12 months?? Sounds like the airline needs an external contractor just to organise its wide and narrow body fleet rostering, training, checking and recruiting. Good luck Kingfisher but its not too late to put your hand up and admit that these issues need to be addressed.

this one's for " bichezas" esp!

I am really shocked at your description of India with your reference to diarrhoea and the comparison with China...we are a developing country and yes there is a huge infrastructure problem...we have too many planes flying out of the same airports/runways/bays and atc personnel.

The growth has been phenomenal esp in the last 5 years but I do think in terms of safety we are way above china...one last thing , you claim 25 years in the airlines but your english is a joke...very soon all airline pilots ( IATA airlines) will have to pass an aviation english test and I guess you would probably find employment in china only!!..maybe italy too...

Now that I am done defending my country..the fact remains we have provided employment to hundreds of expats from all corners of the world...the perks an airline pilot gets here is unheard of in the rest of the world...five star hotels on night stops, transport et al. So stop complaining and be part of the fastest growing aviation industry ...peace ...

Well said scorpilot, I agree, few airlines like Kingfisher are having organizational problems in India due to rapid expansion but some airlines like Indigo and Spice have managed their expansion very well. As far as safety is concerned there has been just no compromise. Moreover Expat Pilots especially rated Captains are looked after well, I have no complaints.

No doubt about India astonishing development rate. Expats have been treated fairly well too.
Do you have any idea on what's really going on with some airlines (Jet for instance) regarding the payment of Indian tax, for expats, as stated on the contract?

EU pilots based in SE Asia use the Alteon SIN sim, most guys bring their own JAA TRI for the renewal.
