Talking

Does anyone know if flybe are still recruiting Direct Entry Captains for their
Q400 fleet? If so, what are the chances of a Birmingham base? Thanks.

Meeb ... errrrrr YES!! Simple answer. Desperately short of Captains still so we are always recruiting! As for a BHX base, think we are so short that you can demand what you want! (Kidding, but there is probably a strong chance of getting BHX)

Jet time

Would substantial jet time (wide & narrow-body) have any effect on turbo-prop/jet allocation for DEC's? And is SOU a base open for DEC's?

(I think I can anticipate the answer, but no barbed replies from internal folk, please. I am a realist)

No. There's currently no chance of getting a DEC on a jet. The 195 will be crewed mostly by 146 crews and there's a list as long as your arm of Dash 8 people that want to transfer. They need Dash Captains and it doesn't matter if you have 10,000 hours on jets and none on turboprops - to the Dash you will go! Any transfers to the 195 will be a long time coming and will go in strict order of seniority. Recently, ex BA and Cathay Pacific pilots have joined - all on the Dash. Don't know how long they'll stay mind!!!

As for SOU, yes if there are vacancies. They're fairly receptive to Captains holding out for a particular base. Not so for FO's, but a lot seem to get a move within a year.

Hope that helps.

Hi all, i'm starting a Cabair Integrated course soon, currently work at BAE SYSTEMS as Avionics Design Engineer after competing Aero Sys Eng Degree. I have worked in flying schools during school/college years and worked as an Aircraft Dispatcher for a year post uni while waiting for security clearance.

Anyway that's my background, now my question is what are the chances of getting f/o jobs in EGAC Belfast City with Flybe? I would love to fly the Q400, and would not want to move from there as my wife is irish.

How many pilots are based in EGAC?

What is Eire like in general for pilot jobs?

check out www.ppjn.com

at the moment i think its £44376 + £1.77 per duty hour (every hour you are away from home base).

No sector pay as yet.

Matt,
flybe are currently recruiting fo's and cpts on the Q400 - whether they will still be recruiting in 18 months when you finish the integrated course, who knows? The chances are that they will be (if the past couple of years are considered). If they are, Belfast is a busy base and there would be a fairly good chance of a posting there, the turnover of pilots to other flybe bases and to other airlines from Belfast is high.
On the grapevine, I hear that there are currently 1200 online applications with flybe, of which c600 have been "processed", ie considered, the back-log is due to admin staff shortages.
Hope that helps,

When are the E195s "estimated" to be on the line and how many will join the fleet through the end of 2006? Nice looking bird...

Riker - the first E195 is expected to be delivered around the 26th August and first revenue flight will be sometime in October - the reason for the delay in entering service is due to crew training and route prooving for the CAA.
By the End of this year 2-3 aircraft will have been delivered.

Thanks for you reply, there is a great article regarding the EMB195 in this weeks Flight International. Anyone interested in it's progress should definitely get this. I think the a/c looks the biz! Given the info above, I will settle with the Q400/DH8 type subject to success. Thanks again.
