If the lower salary for european bases is accepted there will be a lot of commands available in europe as the european guys will then take over part of the UK flying programm as they will a lot cheaper... Wondering its because of this it takes the company so long to decide on upgrades?

I think a lot of the DEC's come from BA et al where the company get out clause is that they consider DEC's when they cannot find the level of experienced offered from within the company blah blah.
This seems to me a joke if they have really done this with all these FO's waiting. Maybe they just have too few FO's and a DEC can fill both seats immediately...i.e. captains in the right seat now. Stinks if it is true..

Rumour has it there are 60-80 guys who have ALREADY passed their command assessment, waiting for up to a year for a command training slot.
One wonders why they would train an outside Boeing DEC through an airbus course for 8 weeks when they could have an upgraded guy promoted internally, useful and on-line in a month. Is it because they make more money by charging/ bonding the guy for his airbus rating and are having trouble finding FO's quickly enough through the TRSS scheme, which is cheaper for them? Hence the shortage of FO's so they are unwilling to upgrade our own people which would exacerbate the shortage.
Just as well people are easyJet's greatest resource...........
