Nil further,

I think you may be mistaken.

BY have not had more than a dozen people RESIGN, in the last few years. Let alone dozens flocking to Easy.
I know of just one F/O who moved. There are I know several TRE types who have retired, and are working there, and I believe some who took VOLUNTARY redunancy, many years ago, and ended up with easy and stayed.

Have several friends with easy, who enjoy life there, however, I personally think the lifestyle Britannia/Thomson allows is hard to beat.
At the moment at least, a very positive vibe in the company. Future looks safe.

I know where I would rather be sitting, at home on one of my days off!

AAE will not merge with AAI, different AOC's in different countries. 100%

You are more likely to see AAE and XLA merge into one AOC. Fact

Please read my post , i didnt specify that dozens of people were resigning from BY to go to EZY . The fact is that there are more than 24 people working for EZY who used to work for BY , how or why they got there is there business not mine.

The point i made was the EZY is a very well run business (financially ) and not in the least bit of trouble which is the point Thompsonfly made incorrectly.

I note neither of you have challenged the point that the IT market is shrinking in the UK and the LOCO market is expanding.

Id still rather be in an expanding market than a contracting market.

Nil Further,

The IT market may be contracting, but at Thomson/Britannia the sales of package holidays are still strong, but there is no growth in the IT market. This is the sign of a business that has reached maturity and is why the 757/767 fleet size has remained static for a decade or so, with no plans to make any big changes to this fleet (other than the usual tinkering of +/- 1 or 2 aircraft).

However, the loco market is where the growth is in the industry which is why Thomsonfly was started. But as Thomsonfly and Britannia are now one and the same the result is that there is huge growth in the company as a whole although this growth is primarily restricted to the 737 fleet. But who cares, because of the different markets it now services the company is able to hedge its bets. It now has the advantage of a traditional base which earns a huge amount of profit, added to that the growth from the loco fleet.

I am not saying that Easyjet isn't a good bet, because I personally think it is. But given the choice I would choose Thomsonfly - reasons - better (stable) rosters -none of this 6 on 3 off rubbish, final salary pension and more variety in flying - after all there is the opportunity to move across to the mainline fleet with longhaul etc.

Finally, I can't stand it when airlines bang on about how much money they have in the bank. MOL of Ryanair are the worst offenders, if I had a pound for every time I heard him talk about his billion in the bank I would be a rich man. The reality is this is just money from future bookings. These bookings have to be serviced so that money will eventually go into fuel costs, aircraft costs, maintenance, YOUR salary, etc etc. This is not money for a rainy day. All decent airlines have money in the bank - its called working capital, but not all of them brag about it.

Nil further,

I said "orange was in trouble". Did I say it was financially in trouble? No! You can throw as many facts and figures around the place but I still do not believe they are making those types of profit- who cares anyway? It's not a career airline. It's a good start and end to a career.

Ezy is merely a training organisation at present! They cannot find enough qualified pilots at present compared to the amount needed. Better airlines are recruiting and people with any sense who actually want a life, leave. In one month, I was the 19th first officer to resign - from LGW alone!!!! I think the management held emergency meeting as they were scared.

With regards to ex-BY pilots at Ezy, I knew and flew with a lot of them. When I was offered a place within BY, I asked for their advice. They all said " If you have got any sense, you'll go". All of them said that they wished they had never resigned from BY as it was and still is one of the best companies to work for. The one pilot that left BY for EZY probably did so as he wanted his command. I bet he is now kicking himself as time to command at Britannia has reduced from 17 years to 6yrs as NO ONE ever leaves.

Nil further, when you get hacked off with being an orange, you know where to go!!!I sustained it for 2.5 yrs.

Guess we will have to agree to differ folks.

Spare a thought for all those poor guys out there who would die to work for either of the above outfits and start paying off some of their enormous debts.

As always in aviation and life , one man's S**t is another man's nirvana .

Merry Xmas to all
