KT,
What questions were you asked in your interview? Mine's next week.
Not sure about DEP for l'haul being frozen. My G/f gets up to two texts a day from crewing asking her to come in on days off to cover FO's for the 747 shortage.....I'll find out for myself next week I guess..
Cheers, Craggs

Yeah they might be a bit short on longhaul at the moment, but I was told with the cutbacks all these posts will be filled internally from shorthaul.
Which would tie up with what knee trembler said, i.e. if things get better next year there might be recruitment for shorthaul next year

Craggs, look back at the previous posts regarding interview questions. They have a laminated card with 30+ "tell me about a time when..." style. All quite hard to answer, especially if you come from a military background. (They specifically asked for me not to quote military examples).
I should have spent a bit more time thinking about these as it's easy to end up waffling whilst thinking of a time when you helped shape the outcome of a decision / moulded a team / were sensitive to the feelings of others - you get the idea.

KT,
Thats interesting because I was allowed to use military examples (though not all of mine were military .....). Sounds like you got someone with the 'hump' about military.

There is an HR lady who is known for not liking examples from mil service. She gave me quite a hard time about it which is ludicrous since she could see from my application that I had spent 17 years in the RAF so, inevitably, almost all of my examples were from that period (apart from the ones I made up
).

In my humble opinion, you just have to be imaginitive when answering these competency based Qs. For the mil folks you don't have to start your answer with 'when i was on ops in..' if you are getting the feedback from the HR bod.
If you were an instructor civvy or mil there are plenty of life examples or even from team sports, even if it was a long time ago.
To be honest I took some real life experiences then with some imaginitive editing came up with in answer to some difficult Qs a plausable and amenable answer.
Usual health warning applies re all advice. Good luck to all, its been 3 years and I am loving it (now that I have finished my sims for another 6 months).

Top Tip for the Ex Mil Guys,
Think about how the 'give an example of' questions would affect the 'bean counters' and you are on the right track.
An example,
When did you, directly, save your company money?
By not flying when its was blatantly apparent that the aim of the flight would not be achieved!
What? You didn't operate a flight?
No, The flight was not conducted as the aim of the flight would not of been achieved therefore making it 'not needed', somewhat different to a 'revenue flight' but a cost saving never the less.
There are a million examples available from military service, you just need to 'package' them correctly. Use the lateral thinking thing.
Good luck.

13 Aug Stage 1
Hmm. PFO received today. Colleague also same. Did anyone pass?
I rather suspect, having passed stage 1 last year and feeling that I'd done a bit better over all this year, that perhaps understandably, BA are taking the opportunity to skim the cream this time round.
Still, no sour grapes on my part as I just heard that I passed the GU for Lufthansa

Sim Check Feedback
Having recently received the most ungracious PFO I have ever experienced, following the simcheck, I was interested to note the offer of feedback following the experience. Obviously I asked for it and was told that the pilot recruiting manager would be in touch. Nothing has been forthcoming.
I wondered if anyone has ever received anything back after the sim check? Feel free to PM if preferred.
Thanks.
