The 14th
Morning all,
Did anyone from yesterday's assessment hear anything last night? I didn't obviously!
Some questions I remember.
What is your strategy for assessing risk?
Give an example of when you have been the leader of a team?
Whats your decision making process, do you follow a set pattern?
What can you add to customer service, disregarding anything operational?
When have you had to do something due to regulations when you think you could do it more efficiently another way?
Do you think cultural diversity is a benefit to a company?
Really all based around the same theme's as mentioned before just re worded and it all changes.
The day was enjoyable and interview quite relaxed, everyone was very welcoming. The maths is difficult as has been stated many times due to the time. Hardly any difficult questions, lots of area questions which were chopped in sections so you had to work out each part, I had to avoid these as they were so time consuming. I only finished 17questions.
The radar screen only gave the 8 directions out to 25miles (18 works fine) If your resonably accurate it's not that bad. They do give some vectors which are completely off the scale, which goes out to 40 miles. some answers took me out to 45miles.
When I go back next year, which I'm sure will be the case, I will devote more study time to Maths and linking the skills they are looking for with my examples. Eg, Leadership, communication etc. That was my downfall.
Thanks to everyone who has posted, I wouldn't have gone near the door without it.
All the best.

Some rather disconcerting words from Willie today after the AGM:
"I am not anticipating any reduction in jobs through this winter period. We will probably turn off the recruitment ... given that expansion will not take place we don't need to recruit people for the winter period"
taken from the following article:
BA says avoiding loss would be 'considerable achievement' | Business | guardian.co.uk
Although he is not talking specifically about pilots, this must impact us? I know that cabin crew recruitment has been frozen already - anyone got any info on the chance of pilot recruitment coming to an abrupt halt? I am going through the selection process at the moment and am wondering if this will reduce my chance of getting to the end......

Just managed to get my application in on friday before the vacancy disappeared from the website, and got asked to come for an assessment (my 2nd).
I am now really hoping that they won't cancel it at the last minute, hopefully Carnage Matey is correct and they will keep recruiting, if only to fill the hold pool and cover retirements.
Best of luck to all waiting for their day to come!

result from the 9th yet?
I was in on the 9th but haven't heard anything yet - bad news I expect.
Anyone else there on the 9th? If so, have you heard yet / when did you hear?
Best of luck to all I met on the day, you all were top people!

Recruitment
As Carnage says, current plan is still for ~140 further recruits for this training year thru to Apr09 (on top of the 100 already recruited). 40 or so of this number is to crew the 4 new 777s that are arriving this winter.
I think this 'environment' is different from the post 9/11 one. Whereas then BA was wondering whether the company would survive, now it is, at the moment, just a slow down. The plan will almost certainly change (rumour control more or less daily!!) , but I would be very, very surprised if people already in the 'selection system' (ie submitted the online application form) would not be allowed to go through the process.
Best of luck everyone.

Just to be clear guys, as I understand it BA have always honoured recruitment committments such as interviews, job offers etc. Just saying that if you are thinking about joining BA get the application in asap as the recruitment may stop at very short notice. Those already in the system will not have any problems I wouldn't think. Having spoken to a training guy just a couple of days ago they have been told to expect the current training levels to continue for the next few months but then cuts in schedule over the winter to be absorbed by stopping recruitment.

He said that BA and its peers were “up to our necks in the biggest crisis the aviation industry has ever known”. "

I recieved the phone call yesterday offering a sim ride a week after the interview day (9th). First of all, many thanks to all that have posted information on here, I would have struggled to get through to the next stage without it. To answer the last post, I applied with 750 hours TP, 900 hours total. Been online about a year now.
Good luck to anyone else going through and fingers crossed for the sim.

Hi there,
On top of well-known "GAE questions", had a few company questions yesterday(16th):
who's CEO, Chairman, What margin, profit, any aircraft delivery for 2009?
hope it would help next candidates.
Cheeers.

Chris rejected!
Hi, I was there July 9th and unfortunately it wasn't a success even if I was confident. I think I failed the verbal reasoning which was a difficult exercise for a non native! I was in touch with for of us and all rejected!
Keep in touch and let me know the result with BA
Best of luck for the future
I received the mail from BA two on July 11th

I got that email saying 'no' a while back. How crap is an automated email?
And then they have the cheek to say no feedback can be given because they are far too busy but they still have the nerve to ask for feedback from us!
Maybe I don't want to work for them anyway!
