For all the swimmers,

Recently received course date for the end of March A320.

Joined the pool mid July A320 rated.

Things are still moving, good luck to all!

It is good to know that I am not out alone....

Hush
How long have you been waiting for day1? I know that someone received the the yes email only last November, I am wondering how many people have been waiting since August like me.....maybe the reason I haven't been called yet is that I m not type rated.....who knows.
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting

Did anyone else get invites in early Dec for Day 1 slots (and booked one) in January?

Seems like nobody has mentioned Jan assessments so far. Just a little concerned on how many people are turning up in January's assessments. Am I the only one?!?!

Hello Fiesler,

I received the "yes" mail last October and like you I'm not type-rated on a Boeing or Airbus type. I guess they filled the selection slots with type-rated people first.. Hopefully we'll get some clarification about our day 1 date this month.

Good luck and happy new year to all!

During the last recruitment drive for First Officers i applied and was successful.

Had a email probably around two months ago , advising that there will be slots for the interview process in early 2012. I am guessing that is in or around JAN/FEB.

Can anyone shed light on the maths tests that will come on during the interview...

Is it the actual tests that are on the SHL website or the "simple" type additions and subtractions ?

pretty simple stuff, big time constraint though. If you struggle with a question, move on!

G'luck!

Ladies and gents,

Good evening.

Can anyone please clarify the following ...

When BA send you documents and the SHL practice tests , are they sent via email or are they posted to the address on the application form.

Is there any correspondence to the address provided on application.?

Reason I ask is I don't live at that address and don't want to badger them.

Rgds

part 2

Anybody who got the pre Christmas 'get back to you early 2012 for a sim' heard anything yet. Wondered if anybody from the first week in October day 1's has heard yet.

I heard from someone recently that the hold pool was topped up and that the Sims would be delayed quite a bit apparently. I'm in the same boat just waiting for Day 2.

As per my earlier post
I see BA proper as working on the Ts and Cs currently enjoyed

Mmmm, cannot see that happening Bearing in mind we (BA) are having to agree to (yet to be stated) reductions in T&Cs just to be allowed the chance (not certainty) to integrate with bmi.
T&Cs changes are to be voted on shortly for all, and do include new entrant additional change from Mar '12. I am sure details will be passed on...

Hi Nigel,

Would the changes just be applicable to the new contracts for joining pilots or/and for the interview and sim assessments ?

New terms

Clearly this is pretty important and there seems to be a level of hush on it.

Whats the new deal? When will it apply and who to? And will you ever get off of it?

It would be nice to think that current staff would want to defend the profession and new joiners but I doubt it very much, BALPA eh, got to hand it to them.

Thanks

Guess:
Leave: reductions of some sort
Hours: More and more flexible
Pay: Less
Pension: Less

Oh and what was it that they sold it to us on (it can't have been the money) thats right: Leave, Roster and Pay increments!

We all need to do ourselves a favour and wake up!

Not saying you're wrong but doesn't seem to make sense. Why would they still be giving day 1 slots very recently then?

No idea, I suspect it will be those starting Mar '12 or later.

The details are not 100% clear, after all, only released today and to be voted on. There is only one change affecting only new joiners and it is stretching the pay scales over more years. I'm not going to post the details (someone will I am sure), but it's not hard to work out given the 10yr CRA increase in BA that made the old payscales prety unsustainable

The theory is that BA will be a better place to be employed than the alternative. I can only agree, and have much to thank BALPA for. Were it not for BALPA, then I reckon you'd have found new joiners post Mar '12 not joining "BA", but it's new LoCo LHR subsidiary...

As an aside, given the steep seniority gradient in BA, it will be interesting to see where new joiners and the bmi pilots fit into the seniority list. It might be a particularly inopportune time to delay a start date with BA by 1 week
