Sorry to hear you didn't make it but not being a UK citizen definitely was not the reason that you didn't get it. Loads of non UK citizens in BA, both from previous recruitment campaigns and this one.
Getting into BA isn't about how many hours you've got, it's about being the right type of person who fits their mould of the 'model British Airways pilot'.
Hence why the 4 short essay questions in the stage 1 application are so important.

I wonder how they are getting through the applications. Plenty of people who applied after me (16th July!) have had very quick responses, both positive and negative.

The SHL online practice numerical reasoning is, thankfully, not what you will sit. As I said above you are better off practicing your basic skills and improving speed and accuracy. All of the questions, with the exception of the 'calculate the area' questions, are maths wrapped up in a sentence. It may seem a little weird but some of the 11+ maths test papers are closer to what you will receive, all be it without the multi choice element. Type 11+ maths test papers into google or have a look at Sample Standard Short Tests - AE Tuition . Section 4 of Harry Trolley/Ken Thomas How to Pass Numeracy Tests is also spot on for what you will get.
With practice there is no reason you can't finish the paper or at least get close. The maths element of the day is probably the least scary as, no matter how you wrap it up, it is basic maths and not subject to personal interpretation as the verbal reasoning can be.
Mental rehearsal for the capacity test could be useful too. When following the flight director bars the controls are reversed. Anyone who is used to flying a flight director, with out a bit of thought, will come a croper when the pressure gets ramped up towards the end and the bars are going all over the place. As you get more and more to look for and listen to it is easy to revert back to what you have been used to over the past x amount of years of FD flying, which can screw you up if the bar moves left and you automatically move left with it making the situation worse!

The maths is easy, the time pressure makes it difficult. 25 questions, 12 minutes. Thats 30 seconds a question. If you don't know the answer move on.
Its all basic maths dressed up in a sentance. a man drills 5 holes in 3 minutes, how many does he drill in a 4 hour morning. tyres are 35 pounds each, you get a 25% discount if you buy 4 - how much do you pay for 4. That sort of stuff. Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division only.
Practice, practice, practice mental airthmetic - including learning to do good approximations. what's 19x21 off the top of your head? instantly? nope i dunno either but 19x21 has gotta be bloody close to 20x20 so i'll guess at 400 as the answer - its multiple choice so using those sort of techniques will get you very close to the right answer.
Don't sweat it if you don't finish - very few people do - I'm a self confessed maths geek with 2 degrees in numerate / engineering / mathsy subjects and I didn't finish all 25 questions, but I passed.

Great advice from all of you guys, the maths and verbal stuff is really going down well, just seems like practice practice practice!!!!
Anyone know if the assessment days are ongoing every month? As I am sure there are thousands of applications! I have already started to prepare just in case I get an assessment, no reply just yet as mentioned before and has been over a week, but If it's a no, just give me six months worth of prep before the next round opens up at some point :-D

BA medical
Hey Guys,
I just read that the BA medical is more stringent than a standard class 1.
I'm just wondering how it is more stringent?
