easyJet pay & conditions?
Would like to know a bit more about the T&C with easy before I put in an application.
Not really interested in the bitching about this and that just straight facts.
What can you expect on an average month for a Capt.
The 6 on 3 off routine, is it in force yet and working?? Is it late's then early like FR or just a mix 'n' match?
Staff Travel??
On your 6 on do you fly every day or can you expect a couple of Standbys??
Understand you can work % rosters, how does this work?
Understand with leave you actually get 6 blocks of 12 days off ... ie 12 days block in every 2 months! Is this correct?
Thanks, no Orange bashers please.

Hope this helps
The 6 on 3 off has been in force for a couple of years now. Depends on which base you are, but they are so short staffed these days and with yet more expansion, you tend to fly all 6 days. It is a mix and match roster. One day 5am report, next day could be 8.20pm report. They do mess your lives around a bit!!
The leave is in 5 blocks of 7 days. One block consists of 7 days with 3 days off one side, and 2 days off the other, so you end up with 12 days. 2 blocks in the summer, 3 blocks in winter.
Never used to have much in way of staff travel but its getting better. Confirmed seats, You and one other named person. Only on the easyJet network No other airlines available for travel.
You can have 50%, 75% rosters, but doesnt make much differece, they'll only cram the same amount of sectors in as you would have on a normal roster!
You can plan your life as you have a stable 6 on 3 off pattern.

There is a thing called a 'flexi day' and this means that easyjet don't really do 6 on, 3 off.
The reality is that is 6 on, 3 off, 7 on and 2 off with maximum dicking about on days 'on', and as they get shorter of crew this gets worse. Pilots leaving at the moment for a new start at Luton and for Dragonair

Could somebody let me know captains average take-home pay, inc sector pay? Please send a private message, if you want to be discrete about it. How much tax do you pay on the sector pay? Thanks

The pay is good although you work extremely hard for it. For the past three month, I have flown maximum hours every month. My average 6 day block is three earlies of about 04.30z followed by 3 days of linate - nice all being four sector days. 6 on 3off like other people say turn into 7 on 2 off including the flexi.
Due to pilots getting disruption pay if their rosters are not 95% stable at major bases, we find ourselves with blocks of standby, disruption pay does not apply. In my last block of standby, I ent into disgresssion twice and did 58 duty hours due to delays. Not ATC delays but no crew to op flights. Looking forward to the Airbus arriving, I cannot think of a word to describe what it will be like.
Anyway had better go now to get some rest as I only have 97 flight hours this month with four standby days, probably due 100 hrs this month. At this ate I will have the Winter months off.
Hours aside, the flying is great, people good fun, organisation of everything could be better.
The choice is yours? It's not too bad, all airlines have their probs.

4 and a bit grand, never worked more than 730hrs in a year yet, 6 on 3 off works really well, yes there are flexi days, but often day six may be the last part of day 5 flight, or an early sby, etc so it can be 5 on 4 off at times. you can also do 6 solid days and be knackered. Staff travel on easy network has improved massively, Balpa are trying to negotiate a proper 5/3 but hey, lets see.

Having read easy's terms and conditions on their website I have a couple of questions for current drivers.
Is the Captain's loyalty bonus payable only at the 2, 5 and 10 year dates or, is it paid each year passing these milestones in which case it is almost incremental pay? I know this may be wishful thinking but it does state that it is paid annually in the percentage box. If it's not paid annually someone could be very unlucky and lose out each time if the company was not in profit in those years that they pass their respective milestones.
At what rate is sector pay taxed at?
Also I presume that the contract runs upto age 65?
Thanks for your help.

There is no disruption pay as far as I know.
There is a management incentive to keep disruption to a minimum, but as yet the means to quantify 'disruption' are still some way off, thogh there is a formula to measure it.
Unlike SS I fly to the maximum 900 hours in 12 months, averaging 80 something hours a month, this is probably more the norm now.
The good bits; take home is average 4.2 a month, though not as much leave as other outfits and time off is not quality.
generally I think the LCO's are all much of a much one way or another, easyjet seem a fun bunch to work for and I would say as good as any in way of T's and C's.
The rosters have been cr@p for as long as I can remember, but I think there's long term structural planning in place that will go a long way to addressing those issues......

Sorry to be so direct chaps, but no one is actually answering the question:
What does a line captain actually get in his hand after tax on a typical month? Also, how many sectors does a typical line captain fly each year in order to work out what the deal is?
Any answers would be much appreciated, and can they include what their pension contributions and tax code are in order to make a fair comparison? Many thanks.

Depends on your base to some extent and leave reduces the sector contribution but;
I take home somewhere around £4250 (4000+ - 4500) in an average month with no pension contributions (the co pays 7%) with the standard tax code.
One month a year i get a bonus which is 5% of that.
LGW Captain.
How does that compare?

Thanks for the reply. By way of feedback, that is significantly more than a captain would get at my current employer. By all accounts you work harder but that is what you have take into consideration.
Cheers to one and all

Out of interest, if someone were to turn up with a 737 or A320 type rating, no line experience, would easy jet say no because you didn't go via CTC?
Is one rating more preferable than the other?
Thanks

I think I'm fairly safe in saying that they wouldn't look at someone who only had the type rating.
Type rating and no line experience isn't worth much I'm afraid.
