Cessna 152A landing light
Hello!
I have been trying to locate the part number of a landing light with dual filaments compatible for a Cessna 152A with no luck. I have looked up the IPC and ran a Google search but haven't come up with anything.
Anybody having faced similar issues..? Any help would be welcome.

Adams catalogue has 2 numbers 4591 and a 4596 listed as 152 landing lights unfortunately i would say they are the later ones, and all my manuals do not go back that far.
Most lights normally have the number printed on the rear BTW. You could do a ginfo and ask any owners of them if they know.

The thing is the aircraft came with a single filament lamp (which was a 4591), but to get it to meet the DGCA requirement for night flying it needs to have two separate lamps or a single lamp with dual filaments. Now the installation of two lamps would require a structural modification to the cowling which I am not too keen on therefore I am looking for a simpler way out by installing a single lamp the dual filaments.
Surely this wouldn't be that uncommon a task..?

Keep in mind that the landing light was designed for illuminating the runway at night. It was never designed as an airborne anti-collision device in daytime. A specific rotating beacon does that job.
Some operators complain bitterly that the landing lights don't last. The life of the landing light was based on it being turned on for the take off roll and at around 200 ft on final. It was not designed to be left on more than that and no wonder the light fails at frequent intervals when left on for lengthy periods during day ops

Umm... I'm not planning to use them as anti-collision lights or the like. The requirement is to have a 1) a landing light AND 2) a taxi light independent of each other. We can have the two in a single lamp or use two separate lamps. That is where I am stuck. I can't seem to find a lamp with two separate filaments. So basically I just need a lamp that has two filaments that can be switched on or off independently of each other.

As I understand in the C152 was never fitted with a dual filliment light, the aircraft had ether one landing light in the nose cowl or two lamps in the leading edge of the left wing.
If you have a split light switch fitted and only the nose lamp fitted I would suspect that the wrong switch has been fitted some time in the last thirty years.
I will have a look in the Cessna parts book and see what I can find as all above is from memory.

The other 152 that we have does have two lamps on the nose cowl but the one in question doesn't. We need it to have two independent light systems (landing and taxi). But to save ourselves from the trouble of getting a STC we just thought it would be easier to install a dual element lamp rather than make a structural modification to accommodate another lamp on the nose cowl. Have written to Cessna with the problem too, waiting to see what they can suggest. In the mean time I'm continuing with the search.
