Keep in mind that the landing light was designed for illuminating the runway at night. It was never designed as an airborne anti-collision device in daytime. A specific rotating beacon does that job.

Some operators complain bitterly that the landing lights don't last. The life of the landing light was based on it being turned on for the take off roll and at around 200 ft on final. It was not designed to be left on more than that and no wonder the light fails at frequent intervals when left on for lengthy periods during day ops
