Flight Deck Temperature

Is there a maximum allowable temperature for the flight deck? Summer approaching, few aircraft with APUs and even fewer Air Conditioning Units around. Just wondering if there was any limiting temp from a regulation standpoint?

The only reg I can find which seems to address this for Part 25 is 25.831.

14CFR25 SubPart D - Centilation and Heating

The only explicit temperature reference is 25.831(g) which describes conditions after an improbable failure, and allows up to 35 deg C INDEFINITELY in such a case. That's pretty hot. (But it's not normal ops, obviously)

More likely, 25.831(a) applies:

(a) Under normal operating conditions and in the event of any probable failure conditions of any system which would adversely affect the ventilating air, the ventilation system must be designed to provide a sufficient amount of uncontaminated air to enable the crewmembers to perform their duties without undue discomfort or fatigue

But unless there's an AC or other interpretative material out there, that's just a qualitative standard.

AC 121-35 recommends deplaning pax within 30 mins of a ventilation failure ...

I've been searching as well but can't find too much on the subject in terms of regs. Do most of you guys have stipulated in your contracts temperature limits for the Flight Deck? E.g An upper and lower limit

I think you're looking in the wrong place. You won't find standard temperature rules in Aviation regs, but in work place regulations.

Doesn't it depend on whether you want your PF still bloody in the centre, or done through and through?

The UK Workplace Regs like many other pieces of UK legislation do not apply to aviation workplaces like cockpits. How on earth would a H&S Inspector have powers to investigate cockpit temperatures when you are on the ground in Dubai (or somewhere similarly hot) in the summer.
