Pair of Italian Army Do228s into Brize Norton this afternoon... Looking at Fighter Control they seem to have been in several times this month...

Not interesting but I noticed the strobes of a FedEx aircraft clipping along eastwards at 35000 this evening - certainly looked pretty fast and Flight Tracker suggested it was doing around 550kts. In contrast, westbound stuff is dawdling at around 400 - 430kts! Presumably the jetstream or some other form of serious upper wind is at play. Never noticed it before...

607kts? Bloody hell, that's nearly 700mph! Certainly the FedEx's strobes seemed to be zipping along - I thought it was much lower than it was. Think it was the one DRUK has mentioned, time is about right.
I was a passenger in a C150 once arriving in the circuit over Popham - we seemed to be shifting a bit with 100 on the ASI and I commented on it; mein Kapitan replied "oops, just remembered they've replaced the ASI with one that's knots rather than MPH..."

New Cessna Caravan N2055A crossing the Channel out of Blackpool, apparently owned by Africair of Miami who are Cessna/Bell distributors - presumably on delivery to a customer... Got a belly pack - I recall when I was a kid in Kenya in 1970 most C182/C185/C180/C206 had belly packs - something I can't ever recall seeing in the UK, though I have seen a pic of a British 337 sporting one in the early 70s. Speaks of bush flying to me.... I can smell the elephant dung!

I suppose the only area of the UK where it might make sense to have belly packs would be serving the Highlands and Islands of Bonny Scotland, but who knows, maybe in the future when Amazon are using drones to deliver their wares, the belly packed Cessnas will be the white van man of the air :-)
Apparently a good part of the Swiss AF has been flying over the UK today headed to RAF Leeming for some exercise. Perhaps some of the other ppruners saw them in the flesh ?

Welsh Air Ambulance - Airbus H145 Returning to Wales
Approx 12:55 Airbus Helicopter H145 [ HLE67 ] G-WOBR fab. view @ ~ 1200 feet East-West , over Bracknell East Berkshire , in red, green obviously.
Noticed that is has doubled height ~ 2300 feet over Reading , then at 1800 feet over West Berkshire
Assume it has come from the Royal London Hospital - London
I always spare a thought for the patient. With a trauma that serious , can't be dealt with in Wales - bit of a haul
Saw this a couple of times on the same route , during the Welsh Lockdown, earlier in the month..
At last, a decent day again for spotting , if your outside, after a few grey days ...

Ref: Treadgraph 21st Nov 2020, 21:23 post FedEx 777F speed East - Jetstream :
I love this sort of stuff, looking at the weather archive from that day / time , within a couple of hours.
FedEx was enjoying a tailwind of around 200 kts + ( green colour ) the Jetstream ,
while TAS had to battle this @ altitude. Stay Safe all ... TFC.
Jetstream position , near the time of Treadgraphs original , interesting post.

Is this an AN-12 I hear above me?
Yes, I heard it too just now, and was distracted from my "working at home" ! There have also been two An-24s overhead on the same track within the last couple of hours. Unfortunately they are as ever at about 20,000ft and the cloudbase today is shrouding the Canary Wharf high rises.

Missed even hearing the AN-24s. Can see 'em on ADSB, 26s UR-CQD and E heading into eastern Europe. 12 is UR-CGW, on a more south-easterly heading just passing Lille. All out of Brum...
