Not interesting but I noticed the strobes of a FedEx aircraft clipping along eastwards at 35000 this evening - certainly looked pretty fast and Flight Tracker suggested it was doing around 550kts. In contrast, westbound stuff is dawdling at around 400 - 430kts! Presumably the jetstream or some other form of serious upper wind is at play. Never noticed it before...
The FDX 777F that went east at FL370 just after 7 pm was showing a groundspeed of 564 kts and a TAS of 476 kts (271 KIAS), so nearly a 90 kt tailwind component at altitude.
