Embraer (?) over Malvern

Several times a day and in both directions we get an Embraer (?) over the Malvern Hills. I'm curious to know what route they are flying..ie where from/to. The usual flight path is approximately NNW <> SSE and height seems to vary from about 3000 ft to maybe 6000 ft.

Why would there be such a difference in flying height?

TIA

I saw this over Malvern and Hereford today. Wasn't sure what it was, as I only managed to look at it for a few seconds.

cheers,
Jake.

There is a BMi 145 at Filton at times (it was parked up there on Sat) - does it fly Filton - Chester rtn or similar?

Yes, you're right. There are regular bmi Regional Embraer EMB-145 shuttle flights to Bristol Filton and Toulouse for Airbus workers from Hawarden Airport (EGNR).

As a student many, many moons ago (before Airbus had flown), I worked for Aerospatiale at Toulouse during the Concorde test programme. At that time both Aerospatiale and BAC operated regular flights between Toulouse and Filton on which I was fortunate to be able to hitch rides on a few occasions. Aerospatiale operated Nord 262 and BAC used HS125. No prizes for guessing which was favourite - the Nord had been known to take up to 4 hours!!

As a kid I used to remember the 7am wake up call of Air Bristol's BAC 1-11's taking off on the daily shuttle flight.

Ah..my fault. I gave a bit of bad steer as to aircraft type The Embraier is a jet. These planes are turbo-prop. One came over again today at 11.46am heading approx. 135 degrees.

The wings appear to be back-to-front, if that makes sense.

Why not just look it up on "planefinder" on your iPhone or laptop as it goes over ?

It doesn't register. Not all planes do.

There used to be a forward swept wing aircraft (Hansa) operating for Bae Warton to/from Blackpool some years ago.

Not forward swept. The leading edge is curved back at the tips.

Which would be a Do228, but still has the swept wingtips.

It all makes sense. Tried checking their website but impossible to find a timetable anywhere! Don't you just love playing 'hide and seek' with those airline websites !

EDIT: Now found a timetable and it all concurs. Thanks chaps. Mystery over.
