PPRuNe Fund TSR2 Print Preview
Just to let you all see a sneak preview of the TSR2 print which will be available soon to help boost the PPRuNe Fund coffers.
Please note that the piccy is just a scanned snap and does not really do the real print justice. The captions I have added will also be absent from the real thing, replaced on a limited edition of the print by some signatures of the gentlemen that flew this impressive aircraft.
IFR will be along shortly with details so that you can get your hands on one of these collectors items.

Thanks 10W. In the circumstances it is a brilliant job - congratulations. At least people can now see what it will look like.
Now is the time to say that we all owe a debt of gratitude to Nearly Man, who is the artist who did this watercolour, and you will be surprised how stunning it is. He and I were with the printer last week and he was so impressed he just looked at it as I did and couldn't say a word. Bill Beck, the printer, is going to do a print run of 1000 copies and will destroy the plates after it is complete.
The original Test Pilot Roland 'Bee' Beamont will sign 360 of them and I hope to get the Deputy Chief Test Pilot, Jimmy Dell, to sign them also as a limited edition. Nearly Man will also sign them of course. The finished product will be superb and we have decided to sell the signed copies for £75 each and the unsigned for £15 each. A bargain whichever way you look at it. The fund will benefit by your own arithmetic. Thought you would like the pleasure of doing that!!!!
10W has done a great job but make no mistake the finished article will be - if you scale it - be about six to eight inches longer and 4-6 inches higher.

Looks luvverly and should be (still) flying today. I don't know whether I could tolerate such a pic on my wall - if I'm not careful I still find myself getting angry/sad that such a promising aircraft never made it into service. I generally try to console myself by thinking 'Ah well, maybe it would have turned out cr*p'

Smoketoomuch. You could always pluck Denis Healy's eyebrows - one at a time until he says "Ok, Ok, it WAS me!"
Or you could do the same to "turncoat" Roy Jenkins.
Or even James Callaghan who sneers with an embarrassed smile the moment TSR2 is mentioned.
But they all denied it then, and they still do! 'Bee' Beamont told me he has a video of the Discovery Wings programme he did and each time he looks at it, it still makes him seethe with anger when each of them blames the other.
Mind you the one who makes ME seethe with anger, is Lord Louis Mountabatten. He persuaded the Aussies to take the Bucaneer instead of TSR2 or the F111. So who sold whom down the river?
Never mind. Just enjoy Nearly Man's beautiful artistry. You can look at it every day and enjoy what was one of the finest aircraft the Brits didn't build.

Put me down for a copy, but only if it comes with a dartboard with the aforementioned 'culprits' faces on, esp Jenkins!! that I can hang beside it
As a minor point of interest, my father was a metallurgist at the time and was involved with TSR2 [in a minor way] and other projects of the time. He despaired of the short-sightedness of the times and especially how many incredibly talented people went to the US because it was the only place where their talents were appreciated. Despite being an small country we really did lead the aviation world at the time....

I have received our first cheque for the purchase of a TSR2 print (available early April) and a for a picture of a Harrier. Both sold for £45 each to New Bloke, except that he has given the fund £100 to bank -which is very generous of him.
The Harrier's, all signed by Test Pilot John Farley, will be on view on our own auction site towards the end of this month, when you can make your bids on the one you like.
The TSR2 can be seen at the beginning of this thread. A truly stunning watercolour by Nearly Man to whom we owe a debt of gratitude for presenting it to PPRuNe. And to the printer Bill Beck who will be printing 1000 copies for free!

I was flying a Beaver out of Netheravon when TSR2 did its maiden flight out of Boscombe Down ( Just across the valley) Altough it was only a couple of wide circuits and the gear remained down it was spectacular. The picture broought back memories

The prints are ready!!! I hope that Nearly Man and I will be going down to Wiltshire the week after next when the great man will be signing the prints - 350 of them.
Numbers, 1,2,10, and a few others have been reserved so you can do the same by e-mailing me to reserve a number you might like. I won't guarantee that you can have it but I will do my best.
The cost of the prints are £45 for the signed version and £15 for the unsigned. Whatever version, they will still have the details of W/Cdr Roland Beamont on them, plus some other details.
Remember that ALL the proceeds of these prints goes directly into the fund. Cost of the tubes and postage will be added.
