Not really a funny reg, but just after I got my PPL, I was renting from two places and flew GBOIM & GBIOM, occasionally on the same day.

That really scrambled my brain!!

Surprised these haven't been mentioned but I remember a brightly painted and colourful Piper single visiting the IOM registered:

G-YSEX or G-AYSX I can't quite remember which. I have a photo somewhere.

I don't know if it ever visited Dublin because there was a Cessna twin registered EI-BUM I imagine the Cessna pilot would have been a bit uncomfortable if the Piper was told to line up behind.

There is also a BE76 Duchess EI-BUN which is tasty. I've flown it.

A Tampico registered EI-FLY which didn't one day and crashed.

There's a Piper PA 22 EI-UFO But I for one have never seen it although I know of someone who says he has.

I remember EI-EIO it is definitely on the British register now.

Finally the Italians had I-BITE which was a demonstrator for Aermacchi MB336 I think. A light attack jet.

An aircraft was registered in Western Australia to a man with a bad stutter "VH - PPP"
Isnt this the guy who gets a mention in the funny ATC quote post? with his Pan-Pan-Pan on contact with Kalgoorlie? (sp)

I liked the home-grown helicopter at Cranfield a couple of years ago with the colourscheme that changed depending on where you viewed it - G-ESUS.

There was also the Berkut with reg G-REDX, and on its first appearance, the X was really red. But the humourless CAA put paid to that, and he was told to apply it in black. Nice guy, believe he was an engineer with Lotus (Glenn X?)

BA (and I believe BCAL before them) had a DC-10, G-DCIO, and there was a Tristar at STN G-IOII.

D-IANA was a Cessna 310, and/or Beech 200, D-ICKY a Duke, I-TALY an MB308, OO-OOO a Falcon 20. SE-XEE was a Stolp Starduster, and SE-XIZ an Extra 300.

Hot Air Balloons D-OLLY, D-ONAU, D-ONKY, D-ONNA, D-ONUT, D-ORIS, D-OTTY, D-OVER....

Wonder if there was ever an I-DIOT?

Cool

I confirm the Corsair 747-300 reg. F-GSEX - with mandatory red lipstick paintwork on the fuselage. It's part of a trio - the others are F-GSEA and F-GSUN... photos on www.airliners.net.

Cheers
