FTE is/was good but going there partially defies the purpose of doing training in Spain. I.e.: significant savings over a course in the UK lets say.
Spanish flight schools suck in terms of standards and quality though. I can know.........

Thank you for your answers.
I have heard about FTE JErez, but, as the family of my wife is now living in Madrid (and for other reasons), I am looking for a school only in Madrid.
Thank you

Thank you Muten for your feedback.
I fact, I came last week to Cuatro Vientos to visit schools.
I visited Gestair, seems to be nice but I am still waiting for the prices (they should send me them this week ).
No answer from Aerofan to my different emails to get information, which is a pity as this school was my first choice at the beggining.
Aerotec told me that they give only instruction in Spanish, not in English, so too bad for me.
I also visited Flyschool Air Academy and Madrid Flight Academy.
All of them told me that they accept that we pay step by step, and not in advance.
Are there other good CPL/IR schools there ?
Thank you

If i was you, i would discard Aerofan and Madrid Flight School.
The first, because of their aircraft condition, and the second one don't even start to fly their Seneca.
I know that Aerocenter offer IR CPL too, but i don't know about his quality
In Madrid, Aerotec and Gestair, If you decide too try outside, i hear good things from Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell, FTE an Adventia
Good luck mate

G Air
Madrid has plenty of flying academies located at Madrid 'Cuatro Vientos' Airport. You'll have G air (former Gestair, but still uses their brand.), Aerotec (Together with G air, the better ones in Madrid), Aerofan, Qualityfly, Aeromax, Madrid Flight Academy and Aerocenter.
I'm currently training at G air where I'm about to finish my last 4.5 hours and I think they're defitnely the best one in Madrid for a flying school with a fleet which consists of C172 (basics), C172R (G1000), C172RG & PA34 seneca. They're price is around 72.000 euros to fly and you'll be making 200 flying hours, MCC in an Airbus A320 FNPT II, 25 hours in a FNPT I and some training in Frasca's and Mockups.
Aerotec is pretty good too and would be a good option too as I believe theyve a more modern fleet and are a bit cheaper than G air.
But I won't recommend you to go to those other ones as they are quite small or lacking lots of things. Aerofan is probably one of the worst.
Other schools in Spain.
They're plenty of schools in Spain too, but if your thinking to actually not stay in Madrid anymore, I would suggest FTE Jerez as they are probably one of the better ones in Spain, but more expensive. They're located in Jerez, close to the sea and Seville, lots of foreigners over there and good weather to fly.
Adventia is a flying school located in Salamanca, Spain and they'll fly only from Monday till Friday as they mix their flying with an university degree (Course takes about 4 years). They are defitnely the best one in Spain and have some nice agreements with airliners such as Vueling. You'll even fly a hour on a beechcraft with 6 other students through Europe, so you'll even end up with a typerating, but they are defitnely very expensive, you won't be flying a lot in a year as Salamanca is only open from 11 local till 17.30 local per day and they usually have **** weather in autumn, winter and spring.
Their probably some more in Sabadell, but I'm not aware of them. They have ****tier weather than here in Madrid, but their environment to fly is more beautiful than south spain.
so if you choose Madrid, I suggest G air (Gestair) or Aerotec

International students in Madrid
If still relevant for you ...
Of all schools mentioned only Aerofan and GAir/Gestair/AmericanFlyers have long standing experience with training international students.
If your spanish is of a workable standard you may consider other schools as well. Mind you, language is not the only factor to consider, knowledge of the trickeries of EASA-land after April 2013 is such a thing, in particular for a licence issued in EASA country A, when acquiring or revalidating/renewing ratings on it through schools in EASA country B.
http://www.seguridadaerea.gob.es/media/4201412/atos.pdf
In the link above you find all currently authorised schools in Spain, look for the Madrid-located schools. The link may change names every few months, google "PPL ATPL ATO Madrid" and you should be able to locate a new version again.
You will find that not all schools mentioned in the thread are in the list, also you find that most are not offering the full package of training that you probably are looking for.
Some (several) schools are known not to respond very well to email, it may work better to call them or even better to knock on their doors when you have the opportunity. Then you will see who takes an interest in you and who not. Whenever you get fantastic stories from the salesmen, let them demonstrate it as well, let them show you their fleet, their operations, and other facilities, watch how their operation is going (if there is any activity at all), talk to their students, ask around to find them, ask the ARO office in the terminal building and the guys of the fuel trucks when they have a bite in the bar which schools are flying regularly.
Spanish fora Extracrew and Foroaviones provide further information, look for poster "winglet" and his advice about selecting schools.
Good luck, enjoy!

It took me 2 weeks of full-time course (GS in the morning/SIM in the evening) to get my TR at FSI, so I guess you want to re-phrase that statement! Incidentally, I had an Adventia-alumni (and a FI in UK at that time) on the jump-seat one day and she told me they got something like 10 hrs TT of King Air, just a taster. So no cheap TR included in the price, mate!

Any recent news about IR training school in Cuatro Vientos (Madrid)
Hi all,
I have posted the initial message more than 2 years ago. Meanwhile, I got my CPL(A).
I am now currently looking for a IR training in Cuatro Vientos in Madrid.
Do you have any recent feedback concerning the different flying schools there ?
Thank you
Best
