Fesmokie - from what one hears if you are an unemployed FE looking for work then the last person you want to meet is 'The Guv' and the last 'company' you want to know about is Lionair.

That is my personal opinion, based on what I've heard and may not, necessarily, reflect the view of PPRuNe management.

Oh God knows how your details were got. The only problem with this proposed air taxi company, is its a virtual airline.
Kinda good fun for kids to mess around it.

I can just see it now, middleaged men getting excited by the fact they have worked out a virtual plan, flown a few sectors on the microsoft simulator in order to get route info etc, then Actually Believe It .

Ah Well, what can I say except "Keep Looking"

I seem to remember getting an info pack from Lionair back in about 1991, in South Africa, where the Guv was attempting to operate from.

The idea was for employees to buy shares in the "airline" (or take shares as a part salary). Each aircraft would operate as a seperate business entity, with profit share from the plane you operate being distributed as bonuses.

Of course, if you AC was a dog, and sat on the ground a lot, you were paid diddly.

It didn't get off the ground then either. I guess the "boss" figures he's got all the BS available from last century, let's try it now!!

I would not touch it with a barge pole (just my opinion, of course)

Disgusted!

How pathetic that the childish management of this site felt it prudent to move this thread here. This kind of censorship sits right there besides those regulary Finger-Waving Outbursts, that are usually picked up in psychometric evaluations before one actually embarks on a flying career.

Once again you people have succeeded in displaying that it is a free world out there; as long as you get to dictate the freedoms.

Disgusted!

I'm inclined to agree - hints of a smack of bias..

On the topic of "The Guv", I was one of quite a few who felt he made the site a more interesting forum... quite a pity he's gone.. courtesy of "The management" no doubt.

From what I've seen so far, I reckon 'Non Air Transport Issues' is absolutely the right place for this thread, but I am prepared to be convinced otherwise.

126.9 = I fail to see how this is 'censorship' when this thread is on a public forum?

To answer your question 727 man - no, I think you'll find that Lionair is still a twinkle in the eye of the Guv. Has been for a number of years under one name or other.

He may, in the opinion of some, have made this site more interesting, but he didn't abide by the rules.

Now any of you want to set up a site, freely available to all, at your expense and you can allow anyone to speak without censorship. You don't have to have rules, but you do have to underwrite any costs and consequences which might accrue from those freedoms you so vigorously uphold. Still you could also have the Guv posting on your website - you might also have copyright or other issues to deal with - but what the heck, you're standing up for the Guv's virtual airline.

126.9, how can this be censorship if the thread is here and you have been able to read it. Grow up and get a life if you want to have an argument about what can and can't be posted on this site. Ignorant dipsticks who are unable to comprehend the difference between editorial control and censorship should go to a more appropriate website that caters to their inteligence. Click here for something more tuned to your apparent mental agility.

For your information, I know for a fact that Pprune do not want Walter Mitty types who lie about their background and past, who have defrauded financial institutions and are likely to take gullible types for an expensive ride just because they 'sound' good on here. The Guv was adept at cutting and pasting articles into Pprune but when it came to him posting his personal views they were utter rubbish and more often than not full of fibs and fabrications. He is a revisionist just like David Irving and lives a fantasy life full of paranoia about conspiracies yet goes one step further and 'revises' his own history to suit the people he is trying to con. In fact he is probably reading this now using one of his new aliases. I am sure Pprune await his threatening email with trepidation... NOT. I won't be holding my breath either.

The Guv

Cargo Child

If you re-read my post, you'll find no promotion of The Guv. Merely a complaint against something I know to be PPRuNe censorship. You on the other hand Dickspl@sh, clearly know where your supplied link leads to...

BOAC

To answer your question: censorship, in that this is probably the least read forum on this site.

126.9 - perhaps that's why I moderate it

I'm still waiting to see if there IS an ATI side to this.

Childish this is not. The concern that someone will be dragged in to this 'venture' to their detriment is a genuine one.

When/if it actually 'goes', we can all eat humble pie, say 'We were wrong', and put this back onto a more visited forum.

Until then...........YOU ask 'the guv'...............and come back and tell us HERE what happened.

Be advised - from one of his 'adverts'

"...like most of Lionair’s employees you will work in a home-based virtual environment from home..."

Might as well stay here, 126.9?? - home-based, virtual...

Reporting Points

What you all say about The Guv and Lionair may all be true. I don't know. That is not the issue which I took up in the first place. I took issue with the fact that this thread was quite surreptitiously moved to the darkest corner of this site. A childish, knee-jerk reaction, in my opinion. I stand by that statement.

As valid as all of your points may be, I wish to bring your attention to the biggest contradiction of them all, and then I'll leave it alone. When logging onto the FORUMS section of this site, the first section presented states clearly:

Reporting Points
Rumours and News that may affect our jobs or lives as professional pilots.

Mr BOAC; if you're genuinely concerned "...that someone will be dragged in to this 'venture' to their detriment ..." read the above paragraph again, and then do the obvious thing.

126.9 - I also will reply and then I agree that we let this drop, or this may become one of the more active forums!!

Some thoughts from a moderator:

1) You will note that I am not a moderator of RP - only this public forum, so I had no choice in the move here - just had to 'catch it'.

2) Your observation on the 'ethos' of RP is accurate. You will note, however, that the 'mover' has, quite correctly, left the redirected thread title in place (page 2 at this moment). It was not deleted.

3) I assume the move took place to avoid yet another outbreak of 'Guv bashing' which consumes bandwidth and gets silly. It has been left in the public domain. I know that the hierachy of Pprune
do not wish to give free publicity to this and previous 'ventures' and are anxious (like you, presumably?) that anyone contemplating taking part does adequate research. There is, after all, an enormous amount of information on PPrune already about this person and his 'ventures' (search for 'the guv' and be prepared for a long stint at the mouse).

4) If you feel so strongly that the 'ethos' of RP has been breached, I'm sure Danny would be ready to discuss this with you. The 'contact us' link below will take you to the 'head office'.

"Once again you people have succeeded in displaying that it is a free world out there; as long as you get to dictate the freedoms.".

Please remember that it is Danny's train set as they say, so he has every right to dictate the freedoms.
