Jetstar Japan

Does anyone know much updated info about JQ Japan?

I have found some forums, but they date back to 2012.

Appreciate any info

Thanks

They are hiring and have opened up opportunities to Jetstar Australia pilots to go over there on leave without pay. That's all I know.

All gone quiet due the CP and head of C&T over the last couple of years exerting their authority and trying, by any means, to make the operation "pure" and being EXTREMELY gaijin unfriendly.

At the same time they (with the support, tacit or proactive of some fellow ex JAL refugees) have allowed/are instilling procedures that are "entertaining" to hear, fortunately they haven't had an accident.

And...NO, Jalboys, you do NOT fly an Airbus like it's a Boeing, for once your "we're old, Japanese, male so we can do whatever we want..." mantra should not be your "get out of growing up and being professional" card.

However I digress.

IF LWOP is being offered then sh*t and fans will collide simply because no Jetstar mainline pilot will walk in and just accept the kabuki and crap that poses as JAL/JetstarJapan "professionalism" ala "welcome to the 1960's!"

Well - that and their "it's just like a Boeing" stuff!

Interestingly I believe JetstarJapan are cancelling flights due lack of crew (no fleet expansion) whilst down the road JetstarPacific have recruited 25+ (not sure if crew or just Captains) pilots for another 5(?) extra hull arrivals this year, recruitment ongoing.

Strangely (or maybe not) both JetstarJapan local and Jetstar HQ management are all too aware they're being screwed over by the JAL mafia in Japan - especially in some ways that should make the Qantas group/brand squirm - yet choose to do nothing positive and hope string and gaffa tape will hold it all together so they can - at least, maybe - get their bonuses.

Would be very interesting if anything like a public audit/inquiry were ever held.

Hello....and welcome to the reality of JetstarJapan.

Cheers!

One thing is for sure, Japan needs pilots real bad. And it's a country which requires a 12 months training period for a 10.000 hrs captain to fly there..If the system/mentality at the top does not progress then I am afraid the recently born companies will have a hard time expanding or existing.

Galdian has hit the nail firmly on the head.

Ops control is in the hands of JAL cast-offs and they do not want any foreigners. End of story.

They tolerate the CEO but keep him in the corner of the mushroom shed.

CP has his own "proclivities" which actually led to his gating from JAL and he turned up at GK via Fuji Dream. The place is a hornet's nest of nepotism and harassment.

Think they have stemmed the red ink mainly due to lower fuel prices so now only losing about USD4m a month instead of 7m.

I saw a few expats for Jetstar Japan wandering through a few airports and all of them were walking a few paces back from the trainer with their heads down, finally managed to talk to one and he was very unhappy. Air Japan is the best gig in Japan and its night and day with Jetstar so if you have the luxury of choice go to AJX.

Any Jetstar Oz guys going to apply for LWOP? What r your thoughts?

galdian 2nd Nov 2016 08:49

Raski

Sorry but unclear - you HAVE been called for an interview or are you asking if anyone else has been??
If called - DEC or F/O??

Thanks
Cheers :ok:

Sent PM.
Cheers. :ok:

Lancelot747 3rd Nov 2016 12:22

Hey Galdian,
I read your previous post regarding JJP but that dates back to January. Could you please PM me the same thing you did to Raski as what you think of the current state of affairs there ?
Cheers

gtseraf 4th Nov 2016 00:04

how things change.

In Jan 2016 pilotcpb mentioned that AJX was a better place to go to, it probably is but morale has dropped considerably there lately, schedulers, all of a sudden, unable to assist with decent flights at the beginning and end of the time in Japan, guys are now losing a day in Japan to meet commute requirements, schedules becoming crazy again, lots of fatigue and "interesting" patterns.

Hi Lancelot
Pprune says you have elected to, or cannot, receive PM's.
If you can PM TO me with an email address I'll pass on as requested.

Cheers

Cheers

Does any one know if expats that come via an agency are placed on the seniority list for a possible upgrade in the future?

A3twozero 12th Jan 2017 13:04

Time to command

The time to command for a Japanese F/O is 18 months to 2 years. The upgrade time for an expat F/O, is when he resigns and moves on. Don't expect an upgrade an don't expect to be welcomed by the flight management team. That is not to say there are many great guys there.:}

avoka 2nd Mar 2017 05:28

Hello guys!
Has anyone had a Skype interview with JJP?
What kind of questions do I need to expect during it????
How does the atmosphere look into the company ???

Galdian!!! Could You please send a PM message to me the same way as Raski
thanks in advance!

nj314 14th Mar 2017 07:33

hi,

i will have skype interview next week. Thank for your comments on this thread so I know what to expect for Skype as well as my minor chance of command.

I have 2 other questions:

1. Does anybody have an idea about the roster? Night flying or 4sectors, how many night out of base per month?

2. How your take home will be like? Parc told me the tax will be around 30%, so take home, according to my calculations, USD5000, am I correct?

Thanks

gtseraf 14th Mar 2017 13:05

take home $5000, not going to give you much month at the end of the money in Japan!

nj314 16th Mar 2017 01:38

thanks, your your reply. yes, 5000$ is not so much in tokyo, fortunately, Parc gives $1500 house allowance and $1000 commuting, which are not bad.

Any idea on the roster please?

gtseraf 16th Mar 2017 23:10

nj, do your homework VERY carefully.

Tokyo is not cheap to live in AND commute flights may not always be so cheap!
