Out of curiosity, is the $200 a day training pay for 3 months (typed) fixed by CSA, or are there variations depending on which recruitment agency one uses? Everyone is the same, $200 a day for induction (usually a bit less than a month) then $400 a day until 3 months, then full basic. Also, reading through previous posts here is it still unlikely to get a (777) LAX or (787) AKL base (as advertised by the agency), or should one expect to sit in China waiting for an opening? LAX still nothing but conjecture, doubt it will take place anytime soon. AKL base swaps from fleet to fleet every 3 months, the current 787 RSP guys have been severely displaced over the last 18 months. Finally, is the atmosphere for an expatriate still as toxic as previously reported? Probably worse. The Paris base 330 RSP guys were just informed last week that the 777 will be taking over and they are now transferred to being CAN based on 20/10 rosters. Many have immediately quit. |
Do non-rated guys remain on the $400 a day until 6 months or has that changed?

sure, I will
Things have slightly changed in the mean time. I still move to Asia, but not China anymore. There were issues with my contract. At the same time I got a job offer from another airline. Way better conditions in terms of transparency and roster planning. |
Seeing your location as "IST", do you have any news about the acceptance of PIC hours on TC- aircraft? There are strong rumours it is an invalidating condition.
|
Someone told me that if you've ever flown for a Turkish carrier no airline in China accepts this, could be BS I'm not sure
|
I can tell you it is not the airline but CAAC. Also that it does not apply to F/O hours, only PIC at CAAC North.
What exactly that means, the recruiters I have access to do not know. I challenged them with a scenario of an experienced German CMD going to fly DEC in TUR say for 2 years, and then coming back to continue in Europe on his EASA licence for a couple more before applying. They said it would need to go to CAAC and wait for a ruling from them. |
That's all just crazy on their (CAAC) part. I guess the TIC thing applies as ever.

Hello guys, I'm looking for a transition.
Hello ladies and gentlemans! I've gone through the whole thread and it was pretty long. There are some questions that I'm still looking for an answer. Background: FAA/JCAB ATP Used to be EMB175 CAPT Current on A320 in japan with considerably amount of PIC time. 1/ When applying, do I use my FAA ATP or JCAB ATPL? I have both licenses. As far as I know according to my understanding, I can use whatever ICAO ATPL from a country that has diplomatic relationship with china. 2/ How long does training last from Typing to Line Captain? (I've heard some say 2 years, some say 1 year, some even say 6 months. I'm looking foward for an A330 NTR CAPT slot. Bases don't really matter) 3/ Smoking in the deck??? Really? I thought it was a made-up stoty from my friend! Those are my questions for now about CSA, and thank you all for spending some time on my questions! Thank you and fly safe Tobi |
During the process the CAAC will liaise with your licence NAA. Neither should be a problem, take your pick. In case of need for a no incident report (see the ME thread, though still confusing), the more recent JCAB will work better. I strongly suggest you disclose both and let them handle it.
Smoking is done with, severe penalties in place. Up to 6 months grounding for those who just do not report others. (different CAAC region, different airline). |

Any European RSP slots available yet on the A330? Last year I was told they had been filled from the recruiter. |

Unfortunately though the 777 took the route as of beginning July so those guys are back in CAN on 20/10....... I was told recently that a lot of them resigned now after being moved back to a 20/10 Roster...... RSP’s very unstable due to frequent changes in AC type..... Cheers |
Wow it sounds very unstable!! |
Unstable is an understatement.
They are now looking to give what's left of the 330 RSP guys 10 day PDG basings every month which essentially means a 14 day trip out of home base. Might as well be a commuting roster. Stay away from this god awful place. |

Guess he means you work those 14 home days too, thus might as well pick a commuting roster instead and go live home during the spare time.

Before I commit to the plan.
Hey guys! Lately I've considered a widebody transition in china but before I commit to it I still have some questions. 1/ Let's say I'm near the end of my contract and wanting to leave for another widebody job outside china, Do I need the airlines' Letter of Release? (Suppose I do not want to work in china anymore) 2/ With the CAAC ATPL, I know that I wouldn't have acess to obtain it. How can I present an ICAO ATPL to a new employer? Do I use the same one that I came to china with which is the FAA ATP? Thank you all for your time reading all of mt questions. Flysafe. |

interesting news...
I am in the process of potentially applying for the DEC A330, however I hear their screenings are terrible?! The sim is apparently crazy, and the medical is insane- heard about a guy who needed to give liver biopsi just to check alcohol consuption... Any feedback on this at all? |
Im thinking to move out from china.. its too much already, but some company asking for an important documents release by CAAC. And that’s sounds impossible to get. Anyone ever get it before ? |
