MAVEN 2nd Oct 2018 05:07

Hi Savage, thanks for info. The CS manager said the 330 was already flying to Rome and LHR and they were planning on increasing flights out of Beijing (and some other city). He said there was already Chinese guys based there who would need to fly the 350 which is why they needed expats to go there. I don't know if he meant the new airport? Anyway, will see. I just got divorced (yeah I know, first pilot to do so!) which means that a change of scene is welcomed and some much needed cash :ouch:

Payment problems at CSA? Is this accurate? I know HNA have been having issues but now CSA too? I've applied to a CSA subsidiary so this would worry me somewhat.

Ours came early this month so may be an agency issue.

Yes it is true. You will find references to it in this thread and also others.
Some agencies will pay ontime but these are generally the bigger ones that can afford finance while they wait to be paid themselves by CSA.
The reason for late payment by CSA is unknown. It’s certainly not financial struggles thats for sure.
Some say they have problems with their payment system but it has been going on a while now so who knows.
Cheers

Ok makes sense that it wouldn't be financial since they seem to be quite strong. Hopefully a temporary glitch.

Hi guys,

Any info on this training bond (19k USD) for the NTR 330/777/787 wannabees? It's not very clear and Rishworth seems ignoring my emails on the subject.

Cheers,

Booze

Is any of this fed back to the agencies, and thence to the airline?
Or is it put in the ‘too difficult’ tray?

They must change their ways, or will be very short of pilots!

Pure and simple...they don't want foreigners there although they need them, because they can't find enough pilots and another reason which cannot be mentioned!
that's why they pay a lot of money,The system itself is crazy.
No credit is given to you for your experience and your proficiency during training.
When a foreign pilot does something wrong then the authority will require all the foreign pilots to go through another Caac check, that's what happened recently after Xiamen air problem in Manila.
That check will be used either by the airlines to get rid of all the foreign pilots"not liked "for any reason or just to fail a certain number of foreign pilots to make the authorty statistics matching, fact!
But they screw also some local guys for the above mentioned reasons
Some chinese instructors category C or D(our senior tre basically) failed their sim check and are now First Officers, what a humiliation!
Agencies can't do anything because if you try to explain that the system is F...ed the company will reply"in China we do things our way and it(apparently)works!

They will never find enough pilots to fly their planes,it is a fact. For pilots who last there 5 years 50 of them left before their contracts ended.
Your contract is "renewed"every 6 months after your sim check, your medical or your line check.forget about 5 years and so on.There is no job stability like the Western world.
Go check now what is the Caac sim check profile and laugh.First a database of 300 oral questions before the sim to which they have recently added maintenance checklist questions.
Flying part....Decompression with pm incapacitated,runway wet,35 kts xwind ,ndb raw data and so on.they just forgot to put a missile avoidance manouvre:}
If you make a mistake listed in the "Captain sim checklist"you are done.
Nothing impossible of course but it is just their aviation system which is 30 years behind ours.
Of course it also depends from who is the guy at the back...everything is very subjective and then we go back to the fact that you must be liked and please your boss but still your contract tenure goes every 6 months.

I hope to have given to you another way to see things to be totally aware before starting your journey there.

At one place, we were called BUT Captains. Every time they would justify something, the Chinese would say, "...but captain, you don't understand". :ugh:

Again I see today our glorious contract agencies with their lovely advertisements for China Southern. Guys please do some due diligence before applying. We have had a new CEO come across from China Eastern and he has openly stated his disinterest in continuing the foreign pilot department as a whole. There is immediate talk of "culling foreign pilot numbers", which will be done by way of good ol' fashioned sim failures, and straight up non renewal of contracts, for no reason whatsoever (other than their agenda).

It is an extremely unpleasant environment at present.

Last time I checked - about 6 months ago, PIC time on TC- was disqualifying. Different CAAC region though.
