Hi guys,

anybody knows Cebupac chef-pilot or recruitment e-mail?

Or probably somebody here can PM me about my question.

I am Boeing 757 First Officer,
with TT arround 3000, (1500 on 757)
Hold ICAO and FAA Licences.
Initial flight training was in USA, 2007
English ICAO 5 (by RELTA)

Currently flying as FO,
charter flights including SE Asian destinations,
as Sanya, Bangkok,Phuket,Denpasar etc.,
(Asian experience)

Taking A-320 type rating in USA shortly, to
get it on my FAA licence.

Any chance get contract with
A-320 type rating in FAA Licence,
but no actual time on it?

Appreciate your help.

Fubaliera 27th Oct 2011 03:19

Great captain contract, but SIC worst in the industry as far as terms and conditions. If you dont have time in type, then you need a local passport.
No training just a PC with no warm up or possible remedial if required , due to the fact that they have lots of applicants , at least thats what assistant chief pilot said. Great place to get your currecy back as well,
good luck

USMCProbe 28th Oct 2011 11:19

Are there any choice in basings other than Manila. A couple of the contract agencies are claiming Clark and Cebu.

Thanks

jamestaylor 31st Oct 2011 01:43

Basing

Airphil Express is hiring and you can base in Clark, Cebu, Manila, and later on in Kalibo.

Jaz and the Fat Man 31st Oct 2011 02:18

Bases....

Interesting about Airphil, looks like a good company. CP is basing in Manila and Cebu city. It makes zero difference what contract company you go with as once you are there, they have no control over your basing, schedule, nor days off. The only thing the contract companies do is take a piece of your pay and then after six months, you are just as if you had hired directly. Two of the guys that just finished IOE and are on the line, requested Cebu city and are moving there Nov 1st. One is a direct hire and one is a contract hire. No basing in Clark for the expats. They are short pilots in both bases, so you'll probably have a choice.

Expat thinking on ATR 72 CA new cummuter contract

I have been in the process of filing all the info required to work there. I have started the process with Contractair and decided for the 12 month option. I wish I would had read this forum before. Anyways, I need some legit info from someone currently working as CA on the ATR. I will be getting a long term leave of absent and I am looking for a place to make money. However, I do not want to work in hell. I currently fly into places simmilar to there so I am used to the crappy controllers and bad airports. Need the real deal with regards to this new contract not the previous one. Here is what Contract air has offered. IS THIS TRUE!

SALARY
USD 8,500 NET

BLOCK HOURS
At least 85+ flight hours a month. This can be increased up to 100 hours a month in line with local limitations depending on flight crew rostering and requirements.

flybean, that sounds about right. Sorry you signed up with contract air, they don't do anything but take your money. any promises are exactly what the direct hire gets but they get full pay from the get go....

The controllers aren't crappy, just not as highly honed as in other large international airports and of course, they aren't nearly as grumpy either and a lot more relaxed should you screw up. Bad airports? Don't believe everything you read. Come with a good attitude or please stay home. Most of the complainers have left and we can now have breakfast without listening to the constant whining.

Cessna, we land the A320 on 1800 meters and we also did that in other countries in my past life so, I really don't think 900 is that short for an ATR. I don't fly one but have about 5,000 hours on other turbo-props and although it's short, it was doable....

flybean 13th Jan 2012 13:27

Can you safely land the atr on a 900 meter runway?

Yes, It is and ATR! I am used to those conditions. I fly the caribbean and we land at places where the RWY is 1000Meter at 21320 kg. Oviously. you have performance limitaions such as head wind and tailwind, etc.

I have no problems dealing with that. I think the biggest problem is when you get someone that has never done that before. I just want to confirm all the bad rap and good rap on this forum. Iam strongly considering going there. I want to have a good time. You know, point A to point B having fun! It seems that wou get work pretty good there. It is ok as long they are straight forward with me. No contract violations and money when is due. I have a good attitude and if I go there it is to make money and work.

flybean 13th Jan 2012 13:32

flybean, that sounds about right. Sorry you signed up with contract air, they don't do anything but take your money. any promises are exactly what the direct hire gets but they get full pay from the get go....

Jaz, I am already screwed with contract air. What are he other Contractors out there. I have some friends that are also interested.

flybean 13th Jan 2012 13:37

Any ATR 72 CA at Cebu Pasific? Please advice

Do you take a ground school? I hear the sim ride is cold turkey for the PC? Any truth to that? What are the destinations for the ATR for Cebu Pacific. Current schedule while in the working roster? 6on and 1 off? Please some one tell me, ATR CA please. PLEASE BE HONEST.

Jaz and the Fat Man 13th Jan 2012 14:21

Flybean, frankly you're only losing a few bucks for the first month and then you're up a running with the rest. If you have some buddies that are interested, have them PM me as I don't want to put company info on a public forum. I was hired directly through the company and personally believe its the best way to go.

I can tell you now. Overall, Cebu Pacific is the best contract out there if you consider lifestyle and pay. The only drawback is that the job doesn't appear to be long term as the minute they have enough local pilots, the expats are gone. They are very hesitant to renew contracts so a word to the wise, come for a vacation, enjoy your time here, but don't quit your day job.

The flying is good, fun, and mostly hassle free, considering MNL is an overloaded airport with one main runway. For an international airport, that means delays. I've been flying into this airport for almost 15 years and it takes patience and extra fuel.

If you come over here with a good attitude and with the thought that you truly are on a contract and not for the long term, it's the best.

The ground school is short, the sim is as you said, cold turkey and boom, a hard core check ride. But, as with all checkrides, they push you but the goal is to pass you. I have heard that on the atr, the checkride is actually in the airplane so really, how hard can that be. Dual engine failure? Not.

You'll get at least one day a week off and probably two. Check online for the ATR destinations, they are fun and sporty.

I have a few Buds flying the atr and they all seem happy. There's only a couple really short runways and the rest they share with jet traffic so not a worry. I think there are only a handful of expat atr pilots so don't be surprised that you don't receive a reply from one.

Good luck!

Jaz.....

Bobflyer1 13th Jan 2012 14:24

I am quite surprised by the comments which Jaz have made about contractair

I have just completed a 6 month contract through them. As a pilot who has actually been represented through Contractair I am sure i have far more knowledge into what support i get in my contract instead of these direct guys. Trouble is there are a lot of rumors and some like putting things into others heads. I love the flying here and the local are very friendly.

My advice flybean is to make your own mind up and stand on your own two feet. I am happy here and have been very pleased with the support i have received.

Unlike others contractair have actually come to visit us and spend time with us. They have helped make this contract better. I will always go to them first when looking for a job. Sorry Jazz but difference in opinion here! ;)

Jaz and the Fat Man 13th Jan 2012 14:52

Bob, it sounds like you're a happy camper with Contractair, and that is great, really. For the couple thousand dollars that Contractair extracted from your salary for their trip to the Philippines from the UK, how exactly did you benefit by a better contract than those that were hired directly. In talking to several of the Contractair pilots, other than meeting in the bar for a few free cocktails once, did anything really change for the better for you that wasn't experienced by everyone?

In their website, they blatantly lie and say that Clark and Cebu is a base of choice when we both know that there isn't a single expat based in Clark and the majority of ATR pilots are based in MNL.

Sorry Bob, it's not an opinion difference, it's a fact.:ok:

Bobflyer1 13th Jan 2012 15:05

Jaz, your comment

For the couple thousand dollars that Contractair extracted from your salary
This is where it becomes an opinion. How do contractair deduct anything from my salary when i was paid the same salary as the direct guys. I think if you are going claim that you are making factual statements, then you must state the correct facts! :ugh:

Any way good luck with your application flybean. Enjoy the Philippines because it is a beautiful place :)

flybean 13th Jan 2012 15:25

I currently live in Puerto Rico an love it. The Philippines has the same weather and nice people for what I hear. I hope I am given the opportunity. As long everyone gets along great that is good thing. We have a good working eviroment here at SJU ATR Base. A small base but we are a very friendly group. That makes all the difference. Thanks for your inputs guys. If hired, I will give a shot for 12 months. Thanks again.:)

Cebu Pacific, CAE to open Philippines training centre By:
07:04 21 Dec 2011
Source: http://www.pprune.org/images/articlesources/pro.png

Philippine low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific and Canadian training equipment and services provider CAE have entered into a joint venture agreement to establish a training centre in the Philippines.
The centre in the Clark Freeport Zone, which is located northwest of the capital city Manila, will be operational in the third quarter of 2012.
The facility represents an approximate $40-50 million joint investment, said the partners.
The joint venture will initially cater to Airbus A319/320/321 series pilot type-rating training requirements and will provide "wet" instructor led type-rating training for Cebu Air's current and new-hire pilots.
Moreover, the centre will offer initial, recurrent, conversion and jet indoctrination training to other Airbus operators.
The partners added that it expects the academy to provide training for other aviation personnel in the future, such as cabin crew, dispatch, ground handling personnel and cadets.
The academy will be developed in consultation with CAE's training facilities design team. It will initially be equipped with two Airbus A320 full flight simulators and have the capability to expand by two additional simulators.

flybean 16th Jan 2012 14:13

ATR 72 vs. ATR 72 500, same type but discualifies you for job?

I just got turned down bu Cebu Pacific because I have less than 300 hourPIC in the ATR 500. However, I am checked out for the ATR 42-300, 72-212, and 72-212A. most of my time is in the ATR 72 212. 8000 housrs and 2600 PIC. do not get it. Well, the gig was not meant for me. Their loss.

FlyingPenguin 7th Feb 2012 06:25

CEBUPAC Training

Does Cebu Pacific offer salary while on training or just allowances? how much do they pay for a local pilots?

Jaz and the Fat Man 7th Feb 2012 06:54

Salary. Contract companies take a cut out of your first months pay " per flybean's previous post ". No opinion, just the FACS, Bob......

Local pay is more than adequate for the Philippines but Ask:

How hard do they work for that pay..... That's the right question and you're not going to like my answer so I'll let one of the Brothers answer that.

St. Ex 20th Feb 2012 03:53

Can you safely land the atr on a 900 meter runway?
You definitely can. MPH is 900 meters. Even the A319 can land inside 900 meters. Landing distance required at typical landing weight of 55,000 kgs Config Full, no autobrake is only 750 meters give or take, zero wind and 50 feet over the threshold.

Jaz and the Fat Man 21st Feb 2012 05:15

upgrade

Yes, this is true. The Mexican FO's were offered an upgrade to Captain but since they hadn't been a Captain before, they were offered the same pay as a local Captain. However, they figured they deserved Expat pay and that wasn't going to happen. So, instead of looking this as an opportunity to be a Captain instead of 40+ year old FO's, they chose to quit and continue flying as an FO someplace else.

tknapp 21st Feb 2012 15:34

Any news when Cebu is going to start hiring A320 captains again?

Jaz and the Fat Man 21st Feb 2012 17:48

Soon. Deliveries are starting already and Air Asia Philippines is ramping up.

Ok, I take this back. Maybe never.

Skymaster337 22nd Feb 2012 11:00

What's the pay for a local Capt vs an ExPat Capt?

St. Ex 29th Feb 2012 00:07

That all depends on the seniority.

The most junior local captains, those who have been employed by the company for 3 years or less take home around USD 6K monthly at 80 hrs average block time. The senior captains (non instructors), those with the company for 10 years or more get at least USD 9K monthly.

Expats get anywhere between USD 12k to 14k for the same work.

Skymaster337 29th Feb 2012 00:41

Thanks for the info. What are local F/O's starting out with?

St. Ex 1st Mar 2012 07:19

About USD 3.5K

Jaz and the Fat Man 7th Mar 2012 16:34

Adios Expats!

Apparently, from the number of guys at breakfast, that have just been given a one way ticket home, Cebu is in the process of terminating their relationship with expats. No announcement as of yet but so far, at least a half a dozen have been given their walking papers, with a one or two day notice. Stay tuned as the saga unfolds...... Dang,......On the other side, rumor has it that Zest Air has been canceling flights due to lack of crews.

FlyingPenguin 11th Mar 2012 19:32

Local FO

3.5K USD is quite a lot for a local FO's salary if you are actually staying in either cebu or mnl.

do they get paid while on training? I heard it's just allowances while on training plus Ceb is holding back payment for 2 months now for trainees. is there truth to that? Are they only gonna pay Local FO if they pass the training? that's sad.

Renewing an A320 rating in the Philipinnes

Hi guys,

Just a quick question to you guys flying on A320 validation certificates issued by the CAAP.

If your rating is soon to expire/ or has. Can the company check pilot renew it, or do we still have to have a CAAP examiner present? Like the initial checkride.

I have read part 2 but it only states " An authorized examiner of the Philipinnes"

Not at Cebupac but on the same validation as you guys

Thanks

Jaz and the Fat Man 21st Mar 2012 06:23

The revalidation is done with a medical check and also documents. No check ride like you had the first time around. Your own countries certificate must be valid with a proper PC check..... Of course, as hard as this might be to believe, things change.

CYKP 26th Apr 2012 19:15

Hey Buddies!!

I am young pilot A320 Type Rated With 200h TT!!
Is it possible to be hired by Cebu or Zest air?
Did Cebu or Zest air accept a participation for line training? (JUST A QUESTION!!)

Thank you for answer me!!

dlx_xlb 28th Apr 2012 06:42

CYKP:

Minimum hour requirement for the A320 at 5J is 1500 total..

Flying Penguin:

Yes trainees receive a family allowance while on training..

Aerodmb 3rd Jun 2012 02:08

Still kicking the expats out?

Jaz and the Fat Man 3rd Jun 2012 05:35

Yes, but after they pack their bags, buy a ticket home, arrive home and then they have been getting invited to come back. It's happened twice that I know about in the past couple of weeks.

TyRod 24th Jun 2012 10:11

Anyone could give me the contact of a HR supervisor in order for me to send my resume!
Thanks

Rod

Jaz and the Fat Man 24th Jun 2012 11:34

resume/cv

Rod, you can PM me and I'll give you a contact but you won't hear back from them. For some reason, if you don't email when they are actively searching for pilots, they will not even send you a thanks but no thanks. This is common of many airlines.

I just stopped into the office and asked if there was any current plans to hire more pilots and was told not now. In 2013, there is suppose to be quite a few a/c being delivered. This can change with a minutes notice, 10-15 airplanes, including A330's.

Cebu is a great place for expats to work but you have to keep in mind that we are only a stop gap until they have enough locals to take our places. I'm sure I'll get slammed as many of the complainer's came from unionized airlines and feel it's their God given right to many benefits that simply aren't available elsewhere in the world.

I'd sit tight, wait until the time comes and they really need pilots again and then you'll be on your way. If you're of Filipino descent, get your butt down to the local flight school and get ready for something that only happens once in the lifetime.

Hey Jaz

What if I took I took Haidee to dinner and told her I loved her and our children would be beautiful ...would that help?

It didn't last time I tried it. :):) But she still ran up the bill.

Lot of work in SE Asia for Bus guys now.

Ciao
