For me it just doesn't make sense to pay so much money upfront as deposit and for typerating costs for a job that pays me the same as I currently earn....

Chip - those figures you quoted are those Sin Dollars or US dollars ? Because if its Sin $ its not really a lot of money, taking in to account you have to live in Singapore and also pay of a bond I believe.

Hi there,

Yes. Potential candidates are still required to pay the cost of the type rating plus a bank guarantee for 5 years.

B787

SO - $2.2k
FO - $10k to $12k
CPT: $19k to 21k

Details accurate as of open show conducted in September.
And all these are Pre tax I suppose. Basically Gross salary in hand. Approx how many hours of flying are we looking at for this kinda pay.
And the tickets. Anything at all ?

As I remember thats pretax, meaning another 10% of that. No tickets at all, but you might get standby travel on Tiger or Scoot. I think Jetstar might be a better option as the money is more or less the same, but you get Qantas staff travel at least.

Could anybody described a typical roster pattern on the 787? How many days off, night flights and so on.

Thanks

Beware!!!!

dont fall into their trap like me
I m one of those stupid pilot that bought my own ticket and hotel plus $428 for freaking som and psycho test

very unprofessional Budget carrier worse than Ryan air.
waited 2 hours for a 5 mins briefing and then waited 4 hours for a 20 mins intereview
very amatuer . Full of arrogant “hot shot” from the airforce who thought they are the best pilot in the world
captain pay is about 19-20k Singapore dollar which is about $14 k usd and FO about 7k usd
no education allowance for kids
no housing allowance
no loss of license
no medical
basically nothing
on TOP of that, tax expect to pay about 1-2k a month usd

housing about 2-4K Singapore dollar
so do the maths
14k usd minus 2k tax minus 2k housing
minus transport, food , medical etc u got nothing much left

and they told me expect to fly 22 days a month
wtf!
off days overseas is considered off days in base?

an Air Force hotshot by the name is Capt BOH interviewed me
arrogant and snobbish ... he probably got his civil aircraft command only a few years Ago
i been flying for almost 20 years and more than 10,000 command hours
and he grill me with questions and scenario like I m fresh cadet
i was the only old man , the rest of full of young boy with 200 hours .
I Guess those smart enough won’t waste their time and money to join this stupid airline

Don’t think they are going to get any Pilots in Berlin or South Africa
sorry for the ranting . Just don’t Want people to waste their time and money

I did everything ...
Forget to add. They want you to pay for a freaking 68,000 for a 787 rating which cost only 25k max
what I heard is that they will try to earn and squeeze every cents out of the pilot.
they r not part of the union, so they can do whatever they like ..
mind u! 68k! And bonded for 5 years!
