Diversion

@ Anilv,

Yes the diversion is normal.

Every regulator under the sun who puts an aspiring new airline through the 'proving runs' throws in a diversion; it's all part of the play.

It has nothing to do with a real operational diversion usually.

Are they hiring Expats in addition to local Malaysians? What % are ex MAS?

Also, any idea on total fleet orders - I have heard of only 10 737-900ERs so far but I assume many more...

Maybe thousands of unemployed CPL holders, but certainly not captains. If Malindo wants to expand they are going to have to get them from somewhere other than Malaysia.

haha ..true..true.. depends who wins the election. Never enough crew.. especially when the B787 comes to Malindo... Locals will fly B787 and expats b737..

Besides not many MAS coming over... because the T&C will be much lower than MAS... no worldwide travel, no transport to/from work for pilots. lower pay etc etc...

Why would a MAS Captain leave and come over to Malindo? Pay is better other places, and even the 737 guys stuck on the narrowbodies have a better deal then Malindo. Is it a leave of absence like SQ offered their FOs to go fly at Scoot? Or were they promised the moon, soon wide-bodies, a chance to go after Air Asia. I am very curious to know where they got their Capts from.

personally i don't think malindo will hire any foreign pilot in anytime soon. There is number of the capt still under training with lion and will report duty once the 3rd a/c arrive. And there is a lot ab-nitio pilot waiting in line for training.
