No, that is not correct. Sky Mark will interview any pilot that meets the requirements regardless of Nationality. I know for a fact they have even gone so far as to hire Canadians... And that's the truth!
They are mainly hiring for the B737. Go on the Iasco-global.com website and they have all the details and if you meet the minimums, apply! Why Iasco? They have been in Japan for over 25 years, have a proven track record, and the management is the best. And no, I don't work or get paid by them....

I know many guys that work @Sky and they come from all over. Be mindful that training is not the six months the agencies are promoting, from first day to line certification is more like 10 months, very political training environment with several company chequers that are notorious for flunking people for silly reasons, it is literally a crapshoot! Once you get on the line is not a bad gig although a little disorganized.

It kind of is but compared to other jobs in Asia, below the China parallel, it isn't so far off the mark, as far as cash in the pocket. If it wasn't for the long training, the check rides conducted by petty check airmen, the medicals, riding the packed train to work 6 days a week, and overnights in 3 star hotels.....
On the positive side, the job appears to be long term and steady. I know of a couple guys that quit and then returned deciding that the grass wasn't greener.
The great jobs like the ANA group are far and few between.

Total is all inclusive about $12,500USD/mth
Many rent hotel accomodation at hotels nearby to Haneda at 8000Yen/night rather than spending 70,000Yen/mth on a 20sq mtr apartments.Works for me.I keep a bike and suitcase there for storage as do most.
Enjoyable flying overall.With overtime and selling back 2 days/mth netts $15,000/mth with Business class tckt back home.Easy.............

Hopefully someone can chime in and help me understand.
The minimum requirements seem to be a bit of a moving target. Risworth lists total time required as 7500 wasinc and iasco say 5000. Then iasco says you need 1500PIC jet but wasinc say you need close to 1000PIC jet while risworth lists the requiement at 2000PIC Jet. So two list hard numbers and one is vague. What exactly does 'close to 1000' mean. I have about 700 jet pic, is that close enough?
I would love to hear from anyone whom has any insight on this.

Use to be 500 hrs as PIC on B737 so just apply and wait

Thanks for the response Lindberg. I looked at Parc and they did not have a listing for Skymark yesterday. I have done all I can do so now I'll just wait and see if anyone wants to call.

Did you keep falling asleep? When you do that brain drain, keep awake as they will fail you if you keep falling asleep and it's easy to do. My Doctor warned me one time to stay awake ..... I think that test is for epileptic tendencies.
I wouldn't worry about it as far as personal health but if you are, check with your local Dr.

Some considerations in regards to Skymark,
You can pass the pre-medical but it is not a valid medical, just a pre-screening so you will still have to go through another medical around the time you have your simulator check ride scheduled. Some has failed this medical for odd reasons in the last few months. You will most likely then be released from your contract and sent home.
Skymark does enjoy changing or making up new policies. They seldom (read:never) goes in a contract pilots favor so it degrades your contract one way or the other.
There is a power struggle going on now due to Skymark management being upset with some contract pilots refusing to sell back days earlier this year. It started with Skymark not being willing to pay for all sell back days being sold and has escalated from there.
The contract companies are in it for themselves so little help from them can be expected. There is of course no union as this is frowned upon by Skymark and the contract companies.
You should also be aware of the training bond. Depending on which contractor you choose to go with, they all have different training bonds and penalties should you elect to terminate your contract. It is very easy to tell yourself that I'll deal with it, stay the full term, etc when you take the job. Once you are here it isn't as easy to just pack up and leave without being penalized heavily for it.

just had a look at the 330 captain position. the money/package seems good, they accept 320 captains and seems a nice option to upgrade to longhaul. only thing is a 3 years contract...looks quite good on paper, anyone going/gone for it?

Yup, I have an interview in June for the 330. I haven't seen anything about the pay package for the 330 however. I'd appreciate seeing it and I'll share what I have concerning the interview. If you got the pay package from Wasinc, there is no need to send it as it will be like dealing with a used car salesman. How do I know? Experience.....

thanks for the answer. and the other question is, any chance to be hired directly from skymark with a permanent contract,or a 3 years contract with an agency is the only way at the moment?

The only way is through an agency at this time. I've worked for 2 of the agencies that are currently handling the pilots and I can say from my personally experience, Iasco has 30+ years experience in Japan and I feel that means a lot.

I personally still need a few months to comply with PIC hours requirement, good luck to all who apply. I hope for us there is a chance to join the company directly with perm contract in the future, you never know (i know it s the contract world, but it scares me a bit to potentially be jobless after 3 years)

Ok, first off, you will probably never be a direct hire and in the case of Japan, Iasco really does give you support. I spent almost 20 years there and needed the staff of Iasco on many occasions. The A330 terms and conditions are going to be the same as the B737. I've never heard of any company there having equipment differential pay.
I'm not sure what you mean about being jobless for 3 years but I don't think that is an issue.
I know there is a need for pilots as I'm sure you've read some of the comments by fellow ppruners and there just isn't a lot of love to be found. You do your job, keep your head down, and in most cases you'll be ok.
Even though you are a bit short on your PIC requirements, I'd send your cv anyway. In fact I'd send it directly to one of the guys involved with hiring. When I was hired by Japan Airlines back in 1992, they only wanted wide body experience and the biggest I had flown was the 320. They took me.
