DGCA 10 + 2 "q u a l i f i c a t i o n"

lol.

Hi everyone. I just signed up and this is my first post here. Basically, I have a Canadian commercial pilot license with multi/ifr + instructor rating. I have 1000+ hrs of flying time. I am a Canadian citizen. My plan is to go to India next year to convert my license to DGCA. The process seems very frustrating. I looked at the DGCA conversion requirements, and i meet all their requirements except for the 10+2 math and physics. I have tried emailing them, call them, etc. to find out exactly what is "equivalent". When i email them, the email adresses are not valid. When i call them, they dont answer. Then i tried to call "CBSE" (central board of secondary education), and they also didnt respond. I was then told that i should try calling the Canadian embassy in Delhi. After speaking to the embassy, they said to call the consulate general of india in Toronto. So after speaking to the consulate, they told me to email some next person. After emailing, there was still no response. So, now i will try here to see if anyone can help. I need to have grade 12 (10 +2) math and phyiscs to write the exams at DGCA. I am about to sign up for math and physics courses through the following websites. Can someone please confirm that these courses will be accepted in India. Thank you

there are no short cuts

shawnbhandal,

i'm not sure of your motivation to go to India to look for work, but the paperwork will be the easiest part of the process.

If you are a Canadian, and plan to be a pilot in Canada, stay in Canada. You have invested the time in Canadian aviation, stick with it.

There are 100's if not over 1000 CPL's in India without jobs. there is very little General Aviation and the last thing they want is more expats coming. There is a ruling in place to have all expats out by June 2011. (I worked there last year, and those 50+ Jet F/O's are all out of work, and have no prospects)

Also, once you get there, there is all sorts of "gratuities" that need to be paid to get the appropriate introductions to get an interview.

Stick it out at home, head up to the NW Territories or try the Caribbean.

cheers
Roj

Thanks for responding Roj approved.

Well, I know the pain of trying to go to india. After learning about the nonsense conversion procedures, I am not motivated at all to go. My goal is to stay in Canada, but the situation here isnt that great either. Recently, Air Canada is advertising positions for pilots. But there is no guarantee. Anyways, i appreciate your advice. But im still wondering, if those courses are equivalent to "DGCA" standards.

@shawn
Read page 11 here http://dgca.nic.in/manuals/Procedure...ing_manual.pdf

If you are unable to get hold of someone in the CEO department of DGCA to guide you, you should contact the AIU address and get yourself an "equivalency certificate".

IMO, you should have some luck getting an opinion from CEO. Even on the phone, they are more approachable than the DGCA HQRS people.

good luck!

The english A lvl's with Physics and maths as a subjects will be the equ'vlnt..... You will have to bring your certificates to india. There is an organisation(Which one...? i dont know... Ind HC might help you in that) that will isue you a certificate in india that will say that you have cleared the eqvlnt exams and should be considered as 10+2 pass.that certificate needs to go into dgca.

You need to take your certificates from your Country, 10+2 in Math & Physics to AIU in Delhi, ASSOCIATION OF INDIAN UNIVERSITIES, form is available on their site, they will issue you a equivalent certificate which is accepted by the DGCA. I went through the process 1 year ago.

DGCA Requirements

Hi! I am a commerce graduate and it was while I was doing my BCOM that I took up flying as a hobby which turned into my passion and now my profession. Students across the world with "non-science" backgrounds are pursuing various professions including flying. Why should the lack of maths and physics in our school curriculum stop us from pursuing flying in India when we can fly else where. I have commented and spoken regarding the same on CNN IBN yesterday. Please do visit the below mentioned link if you are interested to pursue this further. I am looking for people with similar issues so we can all put our view points foward. Anyways, do get back to me if u have some feedback.

Physics and Maths, what's that?

I understand and appreciate your plight. Good luck on trying to get into flying without science & maths stream subjects, though it may also be interesting if you file an RTI at DGCA to find out how many of the existing licence holders, especially the older lot, also have Physics & Maths on their biodatas!!

To the bst of my knowledge, the DGCA did give and still gives selective waivers, it is just that somebody has to ferret out that information.

Thumbs up Turn Citizen Journalist

@Shawnbhandal
See CNN-IBN TV News Channel. Someone frm Canada Called SHUKLA who is an absolutely the same situation as you_NO PHYSICS IN CLASS 12 WISE, he has become a Citizen Journalist and complained against Indian DGCA's insistence on Physics in class12 for issue of CPL when no other country does. You can also become on by e-mailing the Tv channel & narrate your experience with E-Mails & phones.

I have a AIU equivalence certificate, and I have appeared for the DGCA exam and did manage to pass air regs. However i'm still a bit concerned if I will be able to convert my licence. I read that DGCA requires a mark sheet and mine only has like A B C type score, not percentage. Should I just submit my AIU certificate?

Thanks
