Sorry to come back again guys, very real chance of work for the wife in Brunei. I have 4100 tt, 1700 a319/20/21 (FO) and current. Any info on the present/future airbus situation?
Who would be the best person to write to?
For FOs is it 6000bd/month how much variable pay/housing etc?
Spent 4 yrs there 86-90 as an expat brat, loved it then, maybe things are a little different now??!
I am struggling to gather info for our 'frank' family discussions so anything at all would be very much appreciated.
Thanks again.

where in the world did these rumors about 773 and 737 come from?
there is no way in the world these birds are coming.
heard that some of their b767 lease will end next year, and they're getting extensions until they get their b787s. as far as i know, b787s are still definitely on the way...
hurry up boeing!!!

Try 6 x B777 starting March 2010. Ex AI dry lease aircraft. The last one arriving November 2010. Also 1 extra A320 to the end of the current A320 lease. Then all A320 to be replaced by B737.
It looks like this is really happening.

I remember plan "B" or was it "C".
The 320's arrived, then the 767's were going and were to be replaced with A340's.
A large percentage of the airfreight out of PER heads to LHR. RBA's station manager did a great job getting enough customers to fill a 340 only to have a 320 show up on the "inaugural" A340 arrival
As we know the 340's never arrived and as they say, the rest is history. The funny thing is, at the time we all thought...It looks like It's really happening

Ha ha ha,
I recall the rumours of A340s coming. That WAS the reason for choosing the A320s over B737s (well that and back-handers).
Now, after many doing B777 ratings nearly 3 years ago, and waisting several million dollars, there are still only rumours of B777, possibly arriving next year, or the year after, or the year after, or maybe B787 instead.
This is not a secure job anymore.
Whos waiting around for another couple of years for rumoured better equipment.
What a joke!

With regard to the bonding for the 777 rating; where do the pilots stand should they wish not to take up the next class or retire early? After all it has been almost three years since the last class/sim ride.
All quite peculiar.

Whenever there's a new CEO (and the average life of an RBA CEO is measured in months rather than years) there's a planned equipment change.
I wonder why that is?

The first 777 course candidates are approaching 3 years now. They could fly the 777 for just a few months and leave. Thats assuming there are jobs to go to mid next year.

This was in a new article today in Australia
Royal Brunei to expand with Sydney, Melbourne
Thursday, December 03, 2009
Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) is reportedly set to expand, with prospective plans to revive flights to and from Sydney and add Melbourne to its network.
According to reports, the expansion will also involve a fleet update and comes as new chief executive Robert Yang takes the reins.
The carrier’s ageing B767 fleet will be replaced with new B777s by mid-2010 and 787 Dreamliners by late 2013 and 737-800s from 2011.
Royal Brunei could also potentially be back in Sydney and Melbourne by 2011.
e-Travel Blackboard attempted to contact Royal Brunei for comment but they were unreachable as of publication.

Looks like The RBA Pilots are eventually getting the 777 to fly, I believe 3 Ex Jet Airways India 300 ER's are on their way soon in their current 3 class configuration 8 First, 28 Business & 276 Economy, A/C are equipped with EFB's but only have the "El Cheapo" flight crew rest bunks near the cockpit door, Max TOW Approx 337 Tonnes, Max LDG Wt. 251 Tonnes, an increased TOW of 351 Tonnes is available by paying Boeing a few bucks for the paperwork...............Rumour has it that British Airways Flight Training TRE's will be heading your way to do initial line training.
