SPICEJET is hiring expat 737NG Captains who are current, have at least 1000 hours PIC on the NG and a current FAA/JAA ATPL, medical. They prefer Check Airmen/Pilots who've flown with low cost carriers (SouthWest, EasyJet, RyanAir etc) or major carriers (Delta, Continental etc). I do'nt know how they compare with JetAirways/Kingfisher but the expat Pilots flying with them seem happy. They're accepting resumes directly at [email protected] (it helps if you annotate your resume with "FOR THE ATTENTION OF CHIEF PILOT").

Spicejet vs Jetairways

Hello Guys ,

i was working almost 1 Year for Spicejet and i did make a BIG Mistake to change over to Jetairways , where i resigned already to end of January , for few Dollars more.
I highly recommend Spicejet ,

Cpt Jack Ekl chiefpilot and ex former Chiefpilot Southwest US and Cpt Jati Dillon Vice President of Spicejet , both Guys are very hornest and Gentlemen like which you normally dont find anymore in Aviation.

The Company is very professional and i did like it very much to work for them.
Expat Pilots are handled and treated like permanent Pilots , Rostering taking care of Pilots.
Aircrafts in a good shape , PFD ND , resttime and off more then enough , Money on Time , Sim assesments and Sim Checks are fair and professional.
So Guys who want to work for Spicejet or thinking about , from my site highly recomended.

For sure in some points the opposite of Jetairways.

QR's for expat pilots at SPICEJET

The exact qualification requirements for expat captains for SPICEJET are:

• Total flying time more than 5000 hrs
• More than 500 hrs PIC on B 737NG
• Current flying license (FAA/JAA or other ICAO contracting state)
• Current medical
• Current Instrument Rating & Proficiency check
• Age not more than 64 yrs.
• No aviation accident record in the last one year

All selection shall be in strict compliance with (Indian) CAR Sec 7, Series G, Part II dated 08 oct 1999. All short listed pilots shall be subjected to the following selection process prior to being used for normal line operations.

• Candidates shall normally be subjected to a simulator suitability check. In case this not feasible, they shall be checked for their competence during ground school and on-line check prior to release.
• Ground School
  • Company procedures
  • Indian regulations and procedures
• AIC 17 of 1994 (India)
• Supernumerary flight for familiarization with Indian ATC and procedures.
• Line release check by Examiner/Instructor/Check Pilot.

PAY: Worldwide Industry Standard. Also pegged to your qualification (Line Capt, Check Pilot etc). The best would be to send in your resume to [email protected] and get an exact response.

ROSTER: One months roster published on the last two days of the previous month. Submit your requests at least 15 days before the roster is published. Usually you'll get your requests.

DAYS OFF: 8 weeks on, 2 weeks off, company provides the ticket home twice a year (besides the standard regulatory 7th day off every week - usually you get a day off every 4th day).

HOUSING: Airline provided - usually a 4/5 star hotel, all meals included.

Indian Check Airmen for SpiceJet

An Indian Check Airman (TRI/TRE on the NG) with 1500hrs on the NG would be very welcome at SpiceJet. They have a vigorous Training Schedule on at present which is not expected to lose momentum for at least the next few years. It would be best to email [email protected]

Do you know if they offer a housing allowance in lieu of hotels (for those considering bringing the family). Also, what are their crew bases? And their weekly roster. Is it 6/1 like Jet?

Contractair are their sole suppliers........ Even think the Chief Pilot works with them. But they are a good outfit thats for sure.

Gurchi--Do you work for Spicejet? I have heard nothing but good things about them and even though Jet is bigger and better known, it appears that the QOL (quality of life) seems so much better at Spice. How are they doing financially? I know most airlines have lost a lot of money lately.

Where do they interview? Do you have to take a sim check? Where is all their training taking place? Crew bases? Hours flown monthly?

Many of us are considering Jet/Spice/AirIndiaExpress. I would much rather work for someone where the atmosphere & QOL is better than for a big operator with WB in charge. Even if the pay is a few bucks less!

Has anyone been through their screening? Where is it held? Details? Sim, questions etc? Hope to get a screening with Jet & want to try to combine the two. Haven't applied as yet to Spice? Their website only mentions Indian Capts. Does Spice pay for your ticket to screen? (AUS,NZ USA)
Also how do you become a checkairman in India?

SpiceJet--Are they really hiring expats?

Is Spice really looking for expats or just locals? How many pilots do they have on their seniority list. What package are they offering and how many Capts do they really need? Is their package any different than Jet?
I sent my details to [email protected] weeks ago and never heard back. Perhaps I should send one directly to the chief pilot. As a contractor--Spice vs Jet--where would you go?

ive heard good things about spice jet. Im also considering this option. In the website it seems the requirements are a bit high. What are the odds of getting into a jet with someone with the mins for a regional in the us?

Not sure what you are considering to be high as a requirement. First off, are you going as an Indian National or an expat. If you are an Indian National with Indian licenses then you can fly a jet with minimum flight hours. I would not be surpirsed if you can fly a jet with 250 hrs. Not sure what the regional mins are in the USA. If you are an expat then as a Capt they require 500 hrs in type (standard for most any contract). Expat F/O's are now also being hired as long as they have time in type of aircraft flown. If you are an expat remember you will only be there while there is a need. As soon as the 250 hr lads get done with training, out you go! If you are regional expat F/O with no jet time or no time in type of aircraft being flown, your chances of being hired are slim in my opinion.

thanks for the advice. my students tell me the opposite so i wanted to get some more info. im a cfi, with about 600/60. im thinking of the regionals sometime soon, but they tell me with that time, im almost a shoe in into a jet in india. thats hard to beleive, so i wanted some more info. thanks again
