Angel URGENT...need your advises...

Dear All,

Hi , I'm very interesting in cadet pilot program ( Taiwan , singapore , or Hongkong). I am an
Indonesian "Overseas" (chinese but born in Indonesia) citizen residing and schooling in Taiwan, with an Indonesian permanent residency. I would love to apply to this program, however, one of the requirements is become their citizen or permanent resident. My question
is, f i can pass all the tests , which airlines can let me apply to their cadet pilot program??
because my country (indonesia) airlines doesn't give us any chance for cadet
pilot training...so hope i could find my chance here ...

Thanks for any help you may have!

Best regards,

SKY

Cadet Pilot Program

Since you are an Indonesian citizen, have you tried the airlines in Indo ?

Phone them up and talk to them. You have Garuda, Lion Air, Adam Air and others. Ask them if they do this.

No Indonesian airline have a cadetship scheme. Garuda picks recruits from the "National Flying Academy" (Curug) and direct applicants.

There are rumours that Lion and Adam will be having their own cadetship schemes... but these are still rumours (and not even a strong rumour).

Most other countries cadet schemes are only open to local citizens (and some Permanent Residences already working over X years in that country(Singapore)).

Lion Air

Hi PK-KAR,

Now that you've mentioned it, I remember talking to a current serving F/O with Lion Air a few months ago. He did mention that the newly graduate CPLs are bound for the right seat of their 734s as some of the 734 and MD11 crews are being moved to the newly ordered 738s. Not sure though if they are coming from an ab-initio cadet program.

skyinz77 can probably ask what's the story on this and see if he can get any leads.

Cheers

Could be..... it's been months now since I've spoken to the F/O. I can hardly remember the aircraft types but he gave this as reason why the airline is not hiring expat F/Os.

Well, after discussing it with a few ex-Adam last night, it's confirmed that Adam does not have such cadetship schemes.

The only cadetship scheme run by the national flying academy is now not totally free.

D6,
No cadetship with Lion either AFAIK. It seems that fresh CPL ME+IRs are taken in... And possibly non ME+IRs too, and whether there are extra fees/bond conditions with that, I don't know.

And yes, it's MD80/90 and 734s currently, with 739ERs coming. They used to have Yak42s, 732s and A310s a while back...

Skyinz77,
The only one I know is SQ/MI (not sure which one), they take in foreigners with government sponsored permanent residency programmes... As far as I know (which is very little on this one), it is the only one. A friend have joined SQ that way.

Cadetship for foreigners pose risks for the program sponsor in terms of binding the cadet to the conditions set by the company after he/she graduates from the program. Cross border enforcement ain't an easy thing.

If I understand your position, you are an Indonesian citizen undergoing education in Taiwan... do you hold a Taiwanese Residency or on a student visa?

WRT PK-KAR's comment...

Yes, SQ/SQC/MI do accept foreigners in their cadetship program, but this only applies to Malaysians, Singapore PRs and (recently) Hong-Kongers. In fact the first cadet from HK had just arrived in Seletar last week, and another 6 to follow in the next batch.

And if I'm not mistaken, Cathay Pacific is also open to foreigners, as long as they hold HK PR status...

skyinz77,
You can PM me for more info regarding cadet program for foreigners...
