Hi everyone!

I've also received a call-up for the cadet pilot 1st interview on the 16th September! Has been following this thread for quite some time now, and hopefully I'll be able to add to the good news here! This is certainly one helpful and amazing forum from the experienced pilots to wannabes like me!

A few questions here:
I'm wondering how stringent the medical check-up will be? For eg, if dad has mild diabetes, will it affect clearing the medical? Or skin conditions?

Also, if I have done the aptitude test for RSAF pilot and passed, do I still have to do the aptitude test for SIA? Is it the same test?

Any reply from the pros will be very much appreciated!! Good luck to all having their interview soon!

Common misconception: RSAF and SIA are the same.

Had someone ask me if we do guard duty. Even had some girl ask if we pack missiles on board. Seems to be a local thing.

No, psychomotor tests are different for the 2. The last time I did mine in RSAF was 10 years ago at Aeromed.. Is it computer based now?

Anyway, passing the interview is only the first step. The road is long and tough, but in the end it will be worth all the effort. Give it all during your interview.

Jia You.

Hi Crosshairs!

Thanks for your reply! Will definitely do my best for the interview!

Yup, the time I did mine for the RSAF was computer-based.

Currently studying hard on the various information and looking for weak links where I should brush up my knowledge on. Hoping to plan ahead so I will be prepared in either case. Thank you for your encouragement! Hopefully I can reply here one day and add to the number of successes in this thread so far!

hey ..what time was your interview? on the 4th or 5th? which room? the first front two rooms or the other side rooms? Well, if your unselected, they will write e-mail to you within two weeks. So, if you wait longer, u will have a better chance

hi got a question regarding the medicals

will you fail the medicals if you have marginally high blood press or marginally high cholestrol levels? both these conditions are easily treatable by medicine or prevention

What a forum!!! Kudos to all for sharing info pertinent to many of us chasing our dreams.

I am a newbie to this forum and am glad I've found it...though i've finished my medical and am waiting for the next step, more than eagerly!!!

It took me two days to read the posts here and i see lotsa sharing of knowledge and i'd be more than happy to add mine, original or otherwise.

Well, i personnally feel the 2nd i'view is mostly abt knowing the pilot aspirants life experiences, decisions made in life, maturity, not to mention the knowledge of technical stuffs.

I'd like to stress that we shd be truthful abt the choices we have made in the past (be it abt sch, gf, etc). The panel wld like to knoow our train of thoughts and why we made a certain decision.

Also, if we show a passion for something (sports, hobbies, etc), we must definitely know our stuffs, as what was mentioned in earlier posts abt beckham, etc. Believe it or not, i was asked abt the England soccer team in my 2nd i'view. (I am an avid soccer fan :P)

The panel wants to know the personality of the aspirant, and I believe they do not necessarily look for the most cleverest ones. I did not do too well in my B.Eng and i was asked why so...well, I just siad the truth and they listened attentively (suppose the psychologist was trying to weed out untruths, hehehe). MOral of the story, be yourself. All the panel wants to know is our personality, not only looking whether we have passion (though thats impt )

lets pray for the best and wish that we don't get to wait too long for the OBS news.

rAul

jagr,
For the 1st day of the 2nd i\'view, basically morning is the admin, then lunch, then afternoon is the aptitude/psychomotor tests.
For the 1st day of the 2nd i\'view, in the morning are the situational tests (looking at our performance in group dynamics), then lunch, then afternoon was the FINAL interview (phew glad i made it thru).
After the last person has been into the \'firing line\' with the panel, everyone adjourns for the tea party. The day wld probably end abt 6 to 630pm.

Hey all! Congrats to those who got in.
Looks like the thread hasn't moved much ever since I left.

Yes, the interviewers are looking for actually how one handles himself. Facts cannot be faked. Remember that well. Opinions can. And they can see if you can handle it well and how you answer. It's an interview, not a test. There can be many answers to a question be it truthful or not. That's a mistake a lot of people make. Being too honest is no good. Being too dishonest is also no good. Know when and where to do what. That's just my advise.

yourarm,
well, u mentioned in earlier posts ur 1st i'view was on 18th Aug, So i suppose ur 2nd i'view must have been following week coz mine was at the end of Aug. when my 1st i'view ws on 19th Aug.

whiteoak,
hope u get ur result by this week, me too !!!!

Btw, check something with u guys:
1) Is OBS confirmation by email or snail mail (speedpost??) or both?

2) Read something abt speedpost in earlier posts, that is the contract right? So we sign binding contract before OBS...does it mean our allowance starts when we are in OBS??

3) If we filled up the OBS-Lumut medical forms, does it mean we stiil can be slated for OBS-Ubin instead (yourarm, ur form was for Lumut or Ubin? Mine is Lumut eh....since Oct 13th batch is Ubin...don't tell me i'm obviously out!!! )??

Raul
confirmation is via email. They will then send the Deeds letter and letter of confirmation (whether ur in SIA or silkair or cargo) via speedpost. The contract signing is done after u send the deed letter back to them. My medical form was for Lumut but obviously they have changed the venue to Ubin so we were told to use the same Lumut medical form for the Ubin one.

Cheers

Raul:

Your allowance begins the day you join SIA. You get paid on the 21st, or the 20th, depending on whether it is a weekend or public holiday. But definitely, by the 21st of the month, you will get paid. Obviously, depending on the date you join, your allowance will be pro-rated accordingly.

Oh yes, one more thing for all you guys out there... remember the date of your medical. You will need it again years later... You will know when you come to it.

Cheers!

Hi all,

I have just gotten the email inviting me for the 13 Oct course. It's just one day after my 25th birthday. Coincidence? I think SIA really only takes it people who are at least 25.

My medical was 22 July, so in total I waited 2 mths after my medical before the offer came.

Good luck to those who are still waiting!
