Spicejet written test

I heard there is written test for CPL in Spicejet as well.

smurf84 12th Jan 2012 03:53

Yes, SG is conducting an exam on 31st January 2012. You can get all details from the SpiceJet recruitment thread.

amarmusafir 12th Jan 2012 04:21

Hi friends ,
Specially those who appeared last time and did reasonably well still did not receive positive outcome.
I am fully convinced that by no means it should cost spicejet 25000 rs
The CAT/ GMAT/GRE / IITJEE/ UPSc no one ask any thing near this .
This is an absolute case of cheating torture /financial exploitation of young aspirant of our country.
So far I think no one has legally analysed the issue.
I am requesting all of us to unit and stand against this financial heinous crime towards us .
And believe me no one is going to help us if we dont report the matter to concerned authorities.
I request you all to join ICHA (Indian CPL Holders Association ) they have gml address ichassociation
They are filing a case against all this kind of activities but they need strength.
They are planning to send these details to DGCA and Ministry of civil aviation.
This probably would reduce the fees if nothing else happens.

Seems fake to me. Besides, first officer positions are only for Indian Nationals.
I am assuming you are not one. (Correct me if i am wrong)

what was the source of this mail? an official jet airways address or some yahoo/gmail etc. Also you can mail the HR dept @ jetairways to confirm the authenticity of such a mail.

PS: Beware of recruitment scams!!

Jet Airways Converts Option for 17 Boeing Planes

NEW DELHI – Jet Airways (India) Ltd. has exercised an option to buy 17 single-aisle 737-800 planes from Boeing Co., a senior executive at India's largest airline by market share said Friday.

"Yes, we have converted an option for 17 jets into a firm order," said the executive, who declined to disclose the value of the deal for the short-to-medium range planes.

At list prices, the contract is worth about $1.4 billion, though customers generally negotiate steep discounts.

The order comes at a time when Jet is trying to cut operating costs, especially that of jet fuel. Intense competition also hasn't allowed the carrier to raise fares much to cover those costs. Jet Airways posted a net loss of 7.14 billion rupees ($138 million) in the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2011, compared with a year-earlier net profit of 124 million rupees.

Chicago-based Boeing says the 737 is its best-selling commercial airliner with more than 8,800 orders. The aircraft is offered in four versions with a seating capacity of 110 to 220 passengers.

Swati Rangachari, a spokeswoman for Boeing India, declined to comment.

The Jet executive said the new planes will be inducted into the fleet over the next one-and-a-half years and will be used to replace planes that are currently on lease by Jet.

Mumbai-based Jet has a fleet of 100 planes, including 43 737-800 aircraft. The airline owns about 40 of those planes, with the remainder on lease.

The airline, which began operations in 1993, offers flights to 76 cities, including 24 international destinations such as London, Dubai, Hong Kong, Toronto, New York and Brussels.

@amarmusafir
yes spicejet - 500USD and indigo - 375USD, the outright rip-off of cpl holders in india continues and yet we have no choice but to fall into their trap and fill their pockets, i just wish all of us combined would start making some noise about how such airlines clearly take advantage of our deplorable condition and bring it to the attention of the media, it's about time their money-making tactics need to be exposed, i'm sure arnab goswami on times now would do a great job! i mean 20-25k for a written exam and excess of 15lacs self-sponsored type-rating? - nothing short of ridiculous! one question i still don't have the answer to - if i go about getting my own 737/320 TR, i'd spend anywhere between 12-14 lacs, so on what grounds are airlines here increasing this cost to 18-20 lacs?

@aroumika

Did Spicejet, Indigo (or any other airline charging candidates for their selection process) keep a gun on your head or use any other means of force to pay them $500 and appear for their exams ?

If your answer to the above question is a "NO" (and im pretty darn sure is), then you, my friend, are the only one to be blamed for this mess.

You (and by "you", I mean all of you aspiring airline pilots), are the only ones to blame for the way this industry and profession is right now.
That includes all you P2F guys and gals who prostitute yourselves by paying to sit on the RHS and log hours hoping to make it somehow to a bonafide paying job someday.

All of you basically, lack the will and unity to boycott such shady airline selections and interviews, which are merely eyewash.

Why ?? Because there are way too many selfish souls amongst you who will be only too happy to see people boycotting the airline selections (if at all it did happen), as it would tremendously reduce their competition.

Sorry fellas, I do feel for your sorry state of affairs, but it's a cruel world and avarice, over population and the rat race culture has disastrous consequences.

aroumika 14th Jan 2012 17:37

@estranged soul
you're right, i couldn't agree with you more, but who said anything about a "gun being put to my head"? i (and all the other cpl holders) have a right to complain after spending so much on the cpl course and clearing all the papers, but yet the expenses never seem to end with airlines making money out of us, which clearly they shouldn't be doing - besides what do you expect us to do? sit around for weeks, months and years and expect a job to fall into our laps without us trying?

having said that, i was asking for the same thing as you mentioned - "the will and the unity to mass boycott any airline selection" that demands such outstanding sums of money from us, and bringing this to the attention of the media to raise the matter to a higher level

and just for the record, i haven't spent a single dime on any airline selection (so i can vouch for myself not falling to such "low standards" as you call it), i have only managed to make progress with jet, which happens to be the only airline in the country out of 6, whose selection process is rightly "free" of cost

judging by your statements (correct me if i'm wrong), i'm guessing you're already hired and happily working for some airline, which makes it easy for you to openly make such lavish statements, but keep in mind that you too at some point of time in your life were an "aspiring pilot" just like all of us, except that it happened much easier for you than what we're having to face right now

ice_veins 17th Jan 2012 05:03

Back to the Topic

With 17 new planes slated for delivery do you think they will recruit us for these very aircraft or has the KF fallout provided enough pilots to Jet?

bawa 17th Jan 2012 05:29

17 new planes

the 17 new planes are going to replace the ones that they have on lease. they are planing on not extending the lease of many of their aircrafts. so i dont know whether to call it good news or bad

aroumika 17th Jan 2012 12:36

when is the delivery of these 17 planes expected? and i wouldn't worry about the kf pilots, like i said earlier it makes more sense for them to stick to 320 carriers like indigo

just saw on the news that the government might permit the fdi in our carriers from 26% to 49%, i wonder if this might improve our situation?

btw talking about TR costs, i've forgotten to mention this before - last year i received a mail from higher power aviation dallas, upon my inquiry about their 737ng program, and they told me the cost was 17250 USD (8,62,500 INR) for the course + 2400 USD (1,20,000 INR) for jet transition = 19650 USD (9,82,500 INR)

my million dollar question is this: even if their costs have increased over the last one year, why is the jet process for the same a/c 20 lacs now? it's a staggering difference, can anybody please answer this for me? isn't that too much for a type rating?

ice_veins 18th Jan 2012 05:16

The cost quoted by TRTOs is based upon a minimum number of sessions. Jet makes you do more sessions and also includes a few sessions in India just before your final check.

Jet Airways Resuming TR Recruitment for Jet Lite

Jet has resume their on going TR recruitment from 2010 for Jet Lite aka Jet Konnect .. I guess Jet Airways is going to set the ball rolling again. I hope our recruitment process will follow soon.. ;)

aroumika 18th Jan 2012 15:55

i just hope they give us 2-3 months notice for the interview like they did for the gd, rather than a mail saying "please show up for your interview 1-2 weeks from now"

attitudeFlying 18th Jan 2012 17:02

You want a 2-3 months notice?? WOW!! No offence brother but imo all of us must be ready to give a written or one on one interview within 1-2 weeks max..maybe even 3 weeks but no more than that! Just saying.

aroumika 19th Jan 2012 04:38

yep you're right, just got off the phone with them, they still don't know when it's going to be but they said only "one week's notice"

amarmusafir 19th Jan 2012 05:42

well i understand u spoke with them and they said the notice wud be only a week..

aroumika 19th Jan 2012 06:07

Jet Airways Q3 loss at Rs 101.22 crore

Private carrier Jet Airways on Friday said it registered a net loss of Rs 101.22 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011, in sharp contrast to a net profit of Rs 118.23 crore in the same quarter last fiscal, due to higher ATF costs and rupee depreciation.

“High fuel prices together with the depreciating Indian rupee versus US dollar have pulled down the operating results to an extent. However, yield improvements due to seasonality and the narrowing gap between demand-supply imbalances have helped the airlines to post operating profits,” Jet Airways (India) Ltd CEO Nikos Kardassis said. He said the airline would continue to remain competitive through innovative marketing initiatives, an increase in ancillary revenues, an enduring focus on cost-cutting measures.

hey Guys ! could someone shed some light on the process on how i can apply for jet airways ? as in should i wait for the AD to show up in a paper or should i send my RESUME to the HR now ?i noe its a dumb question but desperate times call for desperate measures :8 plz advice..ur help will be very much appreciated ! thnx...

aroumika 23rd Jan 2012 11:05

@josh121.5
jet already has a backlog of batches in the selection process, so it's unlikely they would have a written exam anytime soon for new batches to come in, however you can wait for the vacancy of "trainee first officer" to show up on their website until such time and apply online, that's the only way jet has accepted applications for this position for over a year

flyjet787 24th Jan 2012 17:20

Jet Airways, the biggest Indian airline, is looking to rationalize the fleet size to cut costs.

The company told analysts that the airline does not plan to renew leases that expire this year for its aircrafts. The company is also not taking any fresh aircraft delivery this year.
The company management also said that it may limit its fleet expansion this year to about 5 per cent.

Jet Airways has converted wide body Boeing 777s into Boeing 737s aircrafts. When contacted, Jet Airways spokesperson said that the B777-300ER aircraft orders have been converted to 7 B737-800 aircraft for delivery over two years to 2017.

Jet Airways has total 29 aircrafts on order with an option to add five more that scheduled to be delivered from June 2013. These aircraft orders also include 10 Boeing 787s.

The company currently has a fleet of 100 aircrafts, where 60 aircrafts are on lease.

Searching for facts about Jet Lite written test!!

Hey all..

The new rumor is that Jet Lite held a written test sometime in Nov/Dev '11 and is holding another one in March '12. Could anyone verify this?
If this is true, then also this should be true that only a "chosen" few are being called for the test..

ice_veins 31st Jan 2012 17:41

Jetlite tests

These tests were held for type rated people

aroumika 18th Feb 2012 07:05

someone else just called them up recently to find out, only to receive the same response "we still don't know when it's going to be"

on second thoughts, i'm not sure they would tell us even if they knew, because that way only that the individual that called up would know and the rest of the candidates would still be in the dark, and that would be unfair advantage to that person. in my mind, they want to give us all the same amount of preparation time (i.e. including just one week's notice) without telling any one person when it's going to be, hence being fair to all of us

i still stick to my earlier statement that it might be around late april. don't ask me how i know, it's just my gut feeling

btw does anyone here know anything about the interview results of the type-rated guys that took place last month? it's been almost 3 weeks since, surely the results should have been out by now

vt-abc 18th Feb 2012 08:25

i agree with you why they don't wanna tell. i think the earlier we all know the better it will be for everyone to prepare.

does any one know how many have cleared gd & are awaiting call for the next stage ?

delhi boy 19th Feb 2012 02:41

TO ALL

Jet will call for interview within 2months tat might be anytime from now till april end.Yes jetlite conducted type rated exam but 7-8 guys selected and max were having hours on type. Not that much requirement in jetlite, and they might take guys from jet as they did earlier. So all type rated guys dont realy on jetlite much.Latest news is there are 30-40 internal jet candidates with cpl whom they are planning to hire in next 2months.

tay_uh 19th Feb 2012 03:39

@ Delhi Boy

It nice hear some positive news for a changed..
What positions do these 30-40 cpl hold in Jet Airways.. are they in ops like u..

HAWK21M 19th Feb 2012 07:35

Is it trye that 9W is getting rid of their B777 fleet & only focussing on B737/A330.If so what will be their manpower demand in lieu of this.
