@harsh768techy and ilsdme28-
thanx a lot.

inc in flaps will cause V2 to inc/dec or remain unchanged?

is max thrust greater ,lesser or equal to max continous thrust

effect of camber on longitudinal stability?

harsh786techy 18th Jun 2011 12:03

1. V2 is reduced with use of flaps.
2. Max thrust is always greater then max continuous thrust.
3. camber does not affect longitudinal stability.

what happens to lift and drag in a climb at constant IAS??

relationship between lift drag w.r.t angle of attack?

effect on landing distance when the a/c is in ground effect?

harsh786techy 18th Jun 2011 14:37

1. If you have any options for this question i can select the right one.
Use lift equation and consider the density and true air speed. The density is decreasing, so to maintain constant IAS TAS is increased. If we put this value in the lift equation we can get the right ans from the options..

2. Simple lift curve given in almost all books wrt AoA.

3. Due to floating in ground effect, the landing distance increases.

At 500 hPa pressure level can vary in height. In temperate region what average height is applicable?

Ans : FL 180

How?:ugh:

turnpike007 19th Jun 2011 10:27

Can you please hep me with the solution to the problems given below:

(1)If a radar beam, at a frequency of 10.000 MHz, is radiated from a parabolic dish of diameter 15 cm, the azimuth target discrimination angle is:
A) 14°
B) 15°
C) 7°
D) 5°

Correct ans is A) 14°

(2)A radar operates on a frequency of 10 GHz with an aerial of 24 inches diameter. The Beam width is:
A) 3°
B) 2°
C) 4°
D) 3.4°

Correct ans is D) 3.4°

dragstar 19th Jun 2011 11:43

@turnpike007

don't know about the first one.

About the 2nd question.

Beam Width = 70 x (wavelength/antenna dia)
Wavelength= .03m or 1.1808 inches

Do the math.

turnpike007 19th Jun 2011 12:00

Thanks alot dragstar. But i havent came across this formula for beamwidth ever before. It worked out with this formula.

(1) Freq=10000 Mhz
Wavelength=0.03m = 3cm
Diameter=15 cm
Beamwidth= 70*(Wavelength/antenna daimeter)
70*(3/15)
70*0.2
14 degrees

best of luck for tomorrows exam

flyflyfly2me 20th Jun 2011 09:53

pls post the questions....

aniqua 20th Jun 2011 09:56

questions please

hey guys
today is the first day of the five for the exams...guys who have appeared i just have one question:

Are the types of questions asked similar to what we all have discussed over the past few months on this site (like emphasis on human factors)or have they changed the pattern?

Aviator4u 20th Jun 2011 11:20

A lot of questions from regs,met and human factors.only 6-7 numericals hardly requiring use of calculators! Heard a lot of people saying they are positive about clearing it. Result is to be declared at 5.30,fingers crossed!

Aviator4u 20th Jun 2011 12:16

10 passed today!

iflysoon 20th Jun 2011 12:31

10 out of..?how many appeared today?

AVIATROZ 20th Jun 2011 13:22

ICAO standard pressure

eagle wings.... remember couple of these ,it will help

height pressure{hpa}
38000 200
30000 300
18000 500
10000 700
5000 850

these are approx values but will make ur ans right
gud luck n keep working hard:ok:

AVIATROZ 20th Jun 2011 15:25

indigo exam on 20th and further

hey friends plz share your exp.
which type of questions.,
any significant change from the questions in the previous attempt.,
how many pplz attended....as 10 passed{acc. to me that is nice figure...bcoz last time i gave only 4 passed out of 70}:ugh:

anyways...in the last but most important..........share the exam questions if u remember any friends.
we are all here to help each other right.......

eaglewings11 20th Jun 2011 16:29

@Aviatorz
Thanks. but luckily none of those type of questions were asked

OK So about today Exam :-
around 52 appeared 10 passed ( i am one of them :) ) Conduct of exam was pretty professional however a bit delayed for delay in delivery of question paper at the hotel anyway.. now about the questions,
I dont remember the exact questions but sure some topics which could be helpful to you. ( the questions we discussed here are indeed helpful, few repeated too)
not much of numericals.. only 6-7 of them and that too very simple. based on Altimeter questions, GC track Convergency, Departure. all very basic, Find True Altitude . no highers.
Human performance:- myopia, middle ear, stress, Acuity best at;- Fovea, up-slope runway illusion, sleep duration, hypoxia

DME range accuracy,simple CDMVT question, 1:60 rule. Application of variation:- VOR (at station), NDB ( at a/c), Diff b/w primary and secondary radar, ILS CAT minimums, DME frequency, very basic TCAS question

Regulation :- Visibility and cloud clearance criteria in various airspace, Squawk code,Light Signals.

very basic met;- height of stratosphere at mid lats, minimum visibility to declare fog conditions( lil confusing options), icing conditions,

I hope these should help. Good Luck!

will keep adding topics as i remember.

eaglewings11 20th Jun 2011 16:36

@greatdanemike say about 10 regs 6 ques met.

flyflyfly2me 20th Jun 2011 16:44

@egalewings11 : were the regs questions easy??
