"The other 40 are supposed to be inducted somewhere towards end-March/Early-April"

Are you refering to the 40 who were selected in march 2009? and could you please tell me your source of information.

Thank You.

guitarboy 11th Jan 2010 13:20

Hey wasnt the Recruitment for those under the AI 2009 Trainee Pilot recruitment called off. I mean it was rigged for gods sake and thats the main reason why it was called off!!

Then why would they still be on the rolls for Induction. Ethically they should not be on the list. Rest i really dont know what happening inside. Only an Insider can Guide us. If i was one, i wudav shared the news :)

optimus.Prime 11th Jan 2010 13:30

@guitarboy & flyjet787,

I'm referring to the Jet Airways recruitment (Final Assessment/Sim Check- Sep'08) and not the AI March'09 debacle!:=

I've got a couple of mates who made the cut and are among the "40 Odd"!

flyjet787 11th Jan 2010 23:27

@guitarboy
Even I heard the same, but I heard the malpractice allegations were cleared by the Vigilence commitee. They hav'nt taken those 40 odd pilots yet as the recruitment is on hold and the candidates hav'nt recieved or heard anything from AI officially that would suggest that the recruitment has been called off. I still keep hearing from AI pilots saying that the company has a severe shortage of F/O's. Especially at AIX.

@optimus
Thats nice. Good for the people who have been waiting for more than a year. A friend of mine cleared his sim check in sep 08 and he currently has no clue whats happening at Jet. He would be so happy to hear this news. So is this news confirmed? And do u know if they would be needing more pilots apart from the 40??

IndAir967 12th Jan 2010 04:05

I am not very sure if IC is going to come up with anything in sometime..
I ve also heard Jet/Spice is kinda accepting applications from high positioned desks..
P.S. (There can only be two or three high position desks in a country)

draxis 12th Jan 2010 06:04

@flyjet787 & Guitarboy
The vigilance committee did clear the AI candidates who cleared the exam (mainly due to lack of evidence)....However the candidates have not been put on hold...
An RTI application had to be delivered before AI was kind enough to give a reply...
" Due to the orders of Boeing 787 dreamliners being deferred or delayed, we are sorry to inform you that this recruitment has been shelved...Have a nice day"

optimus.Prime 12th Jan 2010 06:25

@flyjet787,

I still keep hearing from AI pilots saying that the company has a severe shortage of F/O's. Especially at AIX.
I've heard the same on a pretty regular basis, from a large number of guys @ AIX/NACIL.:E

Good for the people who have been waiting for more than a year. A friend of mine cleared his sim check in sep 08 and he currently has no clue whats happening at Jet. He would be so happy to hear this news. So is this news confirmed?
I am pretty sure he will.However I'm not a 100% certain on that, but its what his(your friend's) other batchmates have told me, after having contacted Jet and being informed about the same!:ok:

And do u know if they would be needing more pilots apart from the 40??
I'm not so sure!...@jimmygill would you like to elaborate on this?:confused:

shanx 12th Jan 2010 09:58

@jimmygill

Can you please throw some light on AIX as well ?

jimmygill 13th Jan 2010 10:50

I am waiting fro traffic stats from DGCA, since I don't have insider information about AIX, I will have to rely on public Stats only.

Year 2009 was very sternuous for Indian Aviation, there were reports of a good year end quarter, but DGCA hasn't yet put up the stats.

On the supply side

In year 2009
New CPL issued: 1800
New Computer Number Issued: 4900
New Class 2 Medical Issued: 2300

Currently employed flight crews with all scheduled airlines: 4000

CPL holders not getting flying jobs is a reality, supply will be anywhere between 5-10 times the demand.

That in fact anybody can see, only people who cannot see this is the people who are jumping in.

silent_scream 13th Jan 2010 16:19

@jimmy,

Computer Number and Class 2 Medical I understand,
CPL Numbers is also not difficult with a DGCA insider.

But How did you calculate

Currently employed flight crews with all scheduled airlines: 4000
Kindly Explain.

Silent.

jimmygill 13th Jan 2010 17:33

But How did you calculate
I didn't calculate that number. Just rounded up.

Personnel statistics is published by DGCA on an annual basis. In Air Transport Stats Table 4.21 (approx). The latest number 3997 is for 6 months ending March 2009. Its dated... but there has been very few recruitments in last three quarters. So 'present' is a bit of approximation. But it gives a good base number.

When boeing and airbus both predict a fleet growth of 7% a year, crew growth should also follow the same trend.

Which translates to around 300 crew growth in early years. New jobs will be more than this but not by magnitudes.

Thanks jimmy.

I tried searching for the Stats up on the DGCA website, could not find them.
Can you please post the link ?

As of Last week, DGCA is issuing CPL Numbers in the band of 91xx series.

jimmygill 14th Jan 2010 08:08

Correction

The number 4000, which was rounded of from 3997 appears for March 2008.

In 2008-2009 report DGCA hasn't published the personnel statistics.

silent_scream 14th Jan 2010 15:51

Ok. Now I understand it. So till March 2008, there were around 4000 Pilots employed with all the Airlines in India.
This number also includes Expatriates I guess.
Since March 2008, there would be some inductions into Private Airlines (Back Door), Say about 100.

And I do not think this list includes Private and Charter Stats. So that is something which also needs to be considered.

All in all, a good base reference. But stats for 2008-09 and coming March, 2009-10 will be more indicative, if they ever come out that is.

Aryan cargo hiring?

I ve heard about Aryan cargo hiring freshies..is it true? Does anybody have an idea about this..pls post some info..
thanks...

flyjet787 17th Jan 2010 09:54

@flyboy
Yes they have hired about 20 freshies coupla months ago. Most of them are in some country in europe getting a rating on the A310. I heard they had to pay around Rs.20,00,000 each for the A310 type rating.

captain-planet 21st Jan 2010 15:40

@DJ flyboy
aryan cargo conducted a written test today at their office in delhi.. abt 15-20 people appeared for the exam

silent_scream 21st Jan 2010 16:27

@ captain-planet,

I will not ask How only 15-20 came to know about the exam. Also I am not going to ask how do I ensure that in future, I know if some company plans to hire, Because I know I will always come to know only after the induction is completed.

But what I will request from you is to get Details of the Exam / Interview, viz. Questions / Topics etc.
Will be helpful (For the interview I plan to face in my harrowed dreams tonight).

Thanks.

Silent.

yash 22nd Jan 2010 04:32
