Posting on PPRuNe after quiet a while. Got busy with finishing my engineering degree course and also was not sure if I would be able to self-finance my flight training. I have a few questions in my mind and I would be greatly thankful to you guys if you can help me with them.
1. If I really wanted to seek my pilot training in India, which would be the best Aviation school? (Except IGRUA) 2. Considering the huge investment required for the training, I would actually like to have some basic aviation knowledge and also some understanding of the level of difficulty of the theory course prior to thinking of going for my training. Can you guys suggest any good aviation books which I can read as a starter? 3. How good is the self-sponsored Indigo Cadet Program? Hope to get a reply soon from you guys. Thank you :) |
@SatwikRoy
You can begin to read this book for starters http://www.faa.gov/regulations_polic...H-8083-25A.pdf However theory levels are much higher in India . But its nowhere as close to the difficulty levels or amount you study during your engineering degree . If you did god during engineering then you should find this relatively easy Please think twice before entering this career without sufficient finances already in place Even after you get the CPL the airlines expect you to spend another 20 lakhs to get the type rating Even after you get the CPL there is no garuntee that the airline will call you even if you meet the minimum requirements @Prop.Time Also 2 CPL-holder batches are in the pipeline with varied induction time from Dec-2013 to July 2015. |
@cyrilroy
Thanks for that bit of info :) By the way, your comment about having done good in engineering brings me to my next question. I actually had a few backlogs pending during my course, overcoming which took a little time. Do you think that could potentially hamper my chances during any airline interview if in case I do go for the training? Or will it be mostly with regards to my aviation performance only? |
Well as long as you have the Degree in hand and dont have any pending backlogs I doubt anyone interviewing you would be interested especially if your degree is not related to Aviation
The whole recruitment will most likely focus on your character , aptitude , communication skill , flying skills etc |

Since ****** is not allowed to be mentioned or discussed on pprune I am just leaving the link that appeared in the TOI Ascent Delhi Edition on 26th March 2014
Looks like you will need an ATPL at least in order to apply although type rating does not seem to be mandatory Article Window |

Sea plane operator requires CPL holders for FO position starting in 2 months. Attractive flying roster with decent salary. PM for further info.

CPL with min 200hrs. Multi Engine rating would be advantageous.
