I've heard something about AI recruiting again early next year too. I don' think it will happen though. They are in a huge mess. 2008-2009 losses are 5200 Crs. 2009-2010 numbers will surely be much worse, since they seem to be doing nothing to restructure.

As for Jet, i have also heard they have 20-40 guys on hold. Anyone know what is happening with them? Jet has started ramping up capacity, so hopefully they will recruit mid next year.

draxis 15th Dec 2009 05:33

From what i have heard, the recruitment is for AI express....
Let's not forget folks, there's not been a recruitment for close to 2 years...
Plus from what a captain told me, a lot of the old timers (from the last boom) are retiring next year (may not affect freshers though)...
..
Deccan is coming in with ATR 42's every month....How come i don't see their recruitments happening?

SuperflyTNT 15th Dec 2009 07:06

@ Draxis

I heard something on the same lines too. The recruitment is for Alliance Air and IC. They're planning on buying CRJ 700's is what I've got to hear from what I can say is a reliable source.

And the news that I've heard from the Jet Airways front is that, they've about 40 pilots on hold to get on air. But, the good news is that, they need a number higher than 40 and plan on recruiting sometime in after May or around the mid of 2010. Cheers!

aviation_insider 15th Dec 2009 07:33

Guys, abt air india.. they did had plans to get CRJ'z and for that pilots were supposed to be hired.. but its no more in action. they have scrapped it as of now.
And for jet i have confirmed reports that they have 50 odd pilots on hold and they have no vacancy for next atlest 7-8 months..
what i have just heard is that indigo is doing back door entires..and only ppl with super high level "JUGGAD's" are goin thru...

FixedReserve 15th Dec 2009 09:43

Just heard that Jet has started training for a batch that had completed ground training but had been put on hold. there are another 20-40 guys pending medicals, but there doesn't seem to be anything happening with them. So yeah, doesn't look too good for recruitment in the next 6-8 months.

I have been hearing for the past few days that they are going to be recieving 4-5 737s by mid next year.

Whats happening with the leased out 777 and 330s?

Don't expect anything from AI/IA. they have tons of people on hold for over 1 year. Even if they do come out with vacancies, we have all seen what happened last time! on't expect things to be different this time around.

guitarboy 15th Dec 2009 11:07

AI has a huge number in waiting!

Jet has around 50 in waiting!

Kingfisher just let the 100 odd 'TYPE-RATED' Trainees go away. SO when they need more they'l surely call them back first.

Spicejet has their Cadet Programme people to look after.

Indigo is on backdoor entries!

Go Air?? Dnnow!

ill be amazed to see an ad anytime soon! Maybe Mid 2010 and later a few may. but surely not early!

SuperflyTNT 15th Dec 2009 16:50

Well let us see, if our sources seem to be right then IC should be out with an offer by March '10 and yes, it could be the same situation as their last employment drive.

So the key word is, Mid 2010 for employment opportunities for us lot ? Thank you

Air India to reduce fleet by one third
By Ghim-Lay Yeo

Air India plans to reduce its fleet size in an effort to cut costs, mainly by retiring older aircraft and returning leased aircraft.
The national carrier aims to reduce its fleet size to 105 from 146 aircraft, says an airline spokesman. The reduction will be completed by March 2011.
He was responding to Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel's comments in parliament that the carrier would cut its fleet size.
The spokesman says the airline will retire older aircraft, mainly Airbus A320s and Boeing 747-400s, which have been in the fleet since at least the early nineties.
Air India will also return leased aircraft, such as 777s, A319s and A320s, when their lease periods are up, he says.
Most of the carrier's fleet will be less than three years old after the older aircraft are removed, adds the spokesman.
"We have six more A321s and A319s coming between now and year-end, and we will receive five more next year," he says.
The aircraft are part of an order for 68 Boeing aircraft and 43 Airbus aircraft placed in 2005. Air India said in October that it plans to defer the delivery of three 777-300ERs for up to two years.

Any idea if the CRJ-700s flying for Air India Regional are part of the fleet cut?

moreover there are some rumors that jet airways is coming up with something..
I really doubt that happening, since Jet already has about 80 candidates waiting for a call back, from their Late-2008 recruitment drive!:ugh:

flyjet787 10th Jan 2010 19:13

Both AI and Jet each have about 40+ candidates who cleared all the selection rounds and are left with medicals. They hav'nt been inducted yet and I think when ever there is a requirment these candidates will be inducted. If they need more then I would assume they would come out with an add. So if any of you know or hear about these candidates who are waiting for a call from AI or Jet please let everyone in the forum know about their current situation.

optimus.Prime 11th Jan 2010 06:12

Somewhere above I did mention that about 80 Odd guys were waiting for a call-back from Jet, after having gone through the entire "Recruitment" process.

Well, about 40 Odd of them have started doing their "Suppys" and would be up for the Type sometime real soon! The other 40 are supposed to be inducted somewhere towards end-March/Early-April!:ok:
