Type Rating

Quick Comment

With the way the indian aviation industry is hiring, wouldnt it be much easier just to get a type rating and then applying to companies like Indigo. I agree its going to expensive, but if thats how the industry is moving do any of us have a choice really ???????

the most important fact is, in the current situation the pilots that make it thru interviews have come with alot of contacts(i.e air india) and money and this is never going to change, well atleast not for along time.

jimmygill 11th Apr 2010 12:11

As far as Indigo is concerned, by getting your private type-rating, you are denying them a revenue stream.
Do you really think it will help?

shanx 11th Apr 2010 12:40

If you search around on the internet and enquire a few schools in USA and Canada regarding B737 or A320 type ratings, you'll find at least 5-6 schools offering an initial type for less than 6-8 Lakh rupees.

All the airlines either have a tie-up with TRTOs to provide training to their fresh cadets or have their own training centers (Air India, Jet Airways for instance).

A good amount of $$$ is earned through in house training and hence it would make no difference for a fresher to get his/her own type rating. Definitely not in the present scenario.

silent_scream 11th Apr 2010 13:34

Agree with Jimmy and Shanx, There are already lots of Pilots with A320 / B737 Self Sponsored type rating. It's not helping.

Capt.LSD, the 'Indigo Hiring via CAE' thread http://www.pprune.org/interviews-job...ml#post5589580

Jet Starts Recruitment

Apparently all the people from the sep 2008 batch who cleared their sim checks have got emails from Jet asking them to CONFIRM AVAILABILITY. I believe Jet will call these people for medicals soon and there after start their ground tranining. Also heard that they will be needing more pilots and we can expect another recruitment drive in about 2-3 months. But I heard they will be looking for people with more flying hours (not the typical 200-250 range but more like 350-500 and above :ooh:).

And AI I heard is going ahead and recruiting the 90-100 trainees+cadets. Dont have much info as to when they are being inducted and stuff. And there is a lot of tension between the pilots of AI and IC regarding intake of Trainees by AI so I dont think we are going to see any Ads from AI or IC in the near future.:{

Spice needs and will need pilots very soon. But most of em if not all will be internal candidates. No exam or anything of that sort being planned.

Indigo..you all know whats happening.

The other airlines (GO, I7, KF, Deccan 360) are still in deep s:mad:t.. looks like the wait is going to continue for some more time...:ugh:

Are you sure? No substantial a/c deliveries apart from the 6 ATRs which will be dry-leased, so i wonder what the recruitment will be for?

flyjet787 13th Apr 2010 08:39

Recruitment at Jet is primarily to replace the expats. There are quite a few Senior Indian FOs being upgraded to capts. to replace the expats. The news guys will take the FOs places who have been upgraded. And I belive there are adding a small number of ATRs and 737s.

optimus.Prime 13th Apr 2010 10:16

^^^^,

Amen to that!
