Hi J,

Mine is at 9:45 as well!
How are you preparing for it?
Hey Pyro,

I've just been doing some simple math calculations to improve my speed; since from what I've read here; that seems more to be the focus than advanced mathematical skills.
I'm pretty much a native English speaker and a stickler for grammatical correctness, so I'm not overly concerned about the English side of the test.
Out of curiosity, whereabouts are you flying in from? I'm assuming everyone in our/that test session will be internationals.

Hi J,

I have been doing simple math calculations as well.
Doing math questions that involve graphs, tables and charts might be beneficial. Many companies use those types of math questions for screening applicants.

You're absolutely correct. Improving the speed is crucial. My cousin went through the numeracy test with CX and he told me the math won't be hard, but needs to be done quickly in order to finish the test.

I am flying in from Toronto. I was born in HK and migrated to Toronto when I was young. My english should be ok. But I'd like to think the test will be on the tough side so I am prepared for it.

Where are you flying in from?
Perhaps we can meet up after the test? (or before)

BTW.. I can't figure out how to "quote" when I reply...

Hey Pyro,

I was also born in HK, but I'm flying in from Adelaide, Aus. Meeting up before the test would be good. I arrive in HK in the evening on the 16th, so I have a few days to adjust before the test. I've sent you a PM with my details to get in touch.
P.S. to quote, I copy/paste the post then click the little speech bubble button to add the quote tags. Or just type the tags manually.

Hey J,

I am arriving on the 17th at 5am. Wish I could come back earlier. But need to finish some stuff before leaving Toronto.
I'll send you my contact in HK via PM.

help?

Hey guys,

Haven't been on the site much but just thought id write down a note saying that if any of you need some advice or help or anything for what ever you have coming up next with KA give me a message and ill try and get back to you as soon as i can. Ive just come back from flight grading and am now part of the DA 13 crew so no doubt ill be seeing a couple of you DA 14 lot soon enough down in adelaide!

If it helps i wouldnt stress out if you can prevent that. Just stay relaxed and be yourself. If you have no experience dont worry about it. Ive gone through it all having pretty much none. Infact a lot of DA 13 have almost 0 hours ... some with a short preview flight thing and others with 100 + so it ranges ... dont worry!

Looks like you have most things under control though so good luck to everyone. DA 13 dont leave till mid may so if you guys fancy meeting up with some of us for drinks or something i could try and sort something with the group.

Hi jdurbridge,

Congratulations in making the cut!

My initial test will be this coming Tuesday.
Any last minute tips on the Numaracy Test?
What type of questions should we expect? (I have gone through the forum, but don't seem to be able to find the details...)
All I am doing is simple math to get up to speed...

Thanks and good luck!

Hi guys!

I've too applied for KACPP and i'll be doing my IT on 19/4. How's everyone finding the math test? I've heard from too many sources saying the math test is impossible to finish and it's hard.

Pyromania : My suggestion is to be very fast when calculation speed and time problems. The relationship like km/h and mins, for example 1/3 hr is 20 mins. It sounds meaningless right?? But it helps

Numercy and interviews

@Pyromania;

Thanks mate, well the initial test is pretty straight forward really. English part is simple spelling and picking the right word for each question. If you speak english on a daily basis you will be fine. Numercy part, like aile_striker said is almost impossible to finish. If they havent changed it since i did mine then it should be 9 sections with about 4 / 5 questions in each section to be done in i think it was 30 minutes .... so thats about 45 questions ish. doing that simple math thats more than 1 per minute .... from what i got told by some family friends who are part of CX and KA they told me to stay calm and just do as much as i can, dont rush, dont guess. So i finished 3 sections out of the 9 and got through, while other guys that i talked to after finished all 9 by guessing some and didnt make it. Taking a guess ... i think they want right answers rather then someone who finishes all the questions with guesses. I wouldnt speed through it though

In regards to interviews i remember both the HR and Tech interview to be an hour. Just remember the more you have to say the less they can ask you. e.g. if they ask you about KA and the company say EVEYRTHING about it. Talk about management, talk about the planes they have, where they fly to, what engines they have. go into as much detail as you can really, if you dont they will just ask you about it anyway but i guess the more confident you are with talking about it the more impressed they will be.
