ASL402,
KA's and CX's interview process are basically the same. CX has an extra maths test and requires you to do a presentation though. On the other hand, the aptitude test in KA is way more difficult - It certainly tests your multi-tasking ability.
I have done flying in Australia before and I probably would do some more flying in the coming few months. I do agree with you that flying is fun. It gets more interesting when you do your solo. Enjoy your time!
I will apply for both KA and CX, but I will do that in next year. I think that I am not really ready for the interview now either.

Having done a bit of the Dragonair cadet selection and almost all of the Cathay cadet selection, I would say that the two companies differ very significantly in their expectations towards potential cadets.
IMHO Cathay tend to look favourably upon candidates who can demonstrate passion towards flying. On the other hand, Dragonair seem more focused on mental capabilities and "brain power". Which cadetship is harder to get into? It differs with everyone, some have been rejected by CX but were accepted by KA, and vice versa.
Obviously both companies want people who are able to learn how to fly an aircraft safely, but through the layout of the selections you can tell that the companies aren't looking at the same type of people to fly their aircraft.

hey guys
If anyone can give me an input about this cadetship... I will deeply appreciate it... I had an initial interview with CX like 2 months ago, and I have an American CPL and I didn`t get to the 2nd stage... I`m kind of burned out and dissapointed about the all CX cadetship...
I dont know is it a good time for me to apply KA cadetship... If I do apply I don;t know if I`m going to be able to afford buying tickets to hkg back and forward to the usa at my own exense... because I dnt know how many times do they need to attend certain test or interviews,etc...

I have taken the initial test which held by KA today and i am screwed up with the numeric test too, moreover, the in-house KA listening test is now banning seriusly about the "questions foreseeing"by the candidates and the test is a bit difficult(yeah, just a bit) anyway, goodluck for all of you which have taken the test today and wish you all can still running for your dreams!

Initial test include Grammar+2 listening+ numeric test~
Grammar and listening1 are oxford placement test
listening 2 is KA test. Its a test that you listen a recoding then answer the questions, but you cant read the question until the recording end. So you need to memorize the key points.
numeric is simple maths but a bit complicated, so you need to cal fast and little guess. Otherwise, you cant finish all in 30 mins.
