short flights long nights
I really can't work it out. All these applicants that are not from Hong Kong, that are so keen to go to Cathay, how are they expecting to live?

Recent AE Applications
Hi guys,
I was just wondering if anyone has applied in the last two months for the AE course given their qualifications, and heard anything back?
I'm not really sure how the timelines tend to work with CX recruitment these days?
Cheers.

They have over 100 AE and TT guys that they have to get out of the hold file and re interview. It will be a while before any fresh AE guys get an interview. I assume seeing as there is now a sim check for AE applicants they will be a little more picky with who they take.
Everyone,
The CX package isn't anywhere as good as it looks. If your a local then it's fine but if you plan on having kids/already have kids or want to live in a place bigger than the room you lived in at Uni then your looking in the wrong place.
Pollution is now ridiculous and school fees are astronomical. You can't buy a house as a foreigner within seven years unless you pay 25% foreigner tax. When I say house I mean flat/apartment of 500 sq feet so it's pretty small and will cost 600k USD before the extra tax.
Still interested?

Pilotchute,
I'm in total agreement with you. To everyone applying for AE and TT HongKong can be a cheap place to live. However if you want to live in a 200 sq foot apartment (room share) enjoy your uneventful life even thou you will be out of the country most of the time. You can't live of McDonald's. And if you are married and have kids forget it. HongKong was different 20 years ago. Ps Cathay Pacific hires future captains and that's what you have to show them.

Hello fellows,
how much prior notice does CX give in regards to interviews for TT? i.e. if they contact me tomorrow do they expect me to be in HK in a week or a month or three months?
Potentially there can be a bit of a conflict of information here.
Dario540 and chili peppered, can you clarify whether you were you in the holding pool or whether you applied recently? Thanks

Is anyone invited to the TT final interview end of Jan?
I was invited directly to the final TT.

Stage 1b interview is by whom?
I'm told it's 2 HR. And also HR+pilot.
If it's 2 HR, I want to tailor my answers so it's not too technical instead of 'uhhing' and 'umming' on the spot.
Thanks!

1b interview is conducted by two HR people. No pilot and no tech questions.

They refer to the interview stages for the cadet program. The whole process is:
Stage 1a
Stage 1b
Stage 2
Stage 3
Flight grading
I'm not sure if it is the same or not for AE or TT
