Anybody with 3000 hours would probably be past the cadet stage with a fair few malfunction ripping yarns to boot.

I'm not so sure. Experiece isn't just what you have done, but also careful consideration of what you might need to do. In otherwords, experience can be expressed as decions (good and bad)....
