Avalon has great facilities have improved greatly over the years but what about SAFETY ISSUES?

I was lucky enough to fly a Bulldog out of Prescott, AZ (N632BD) a few years ago. When starting we used Mag Setting BOTH. I see on here that it should have been LEFT only.
