I imagine they were Comair pilots who fly BA franchise aircraft and not BA pilots per se. Now I know we all like tight but I think George is a bit too tight for a 777 or 747 :)

VOF... BA only ever did a shuttle to Durban, from HRE first then JNB. Durban is one of the shortest runways we operated in to with the 747 and there is no way we could have operated to EGLL(LHR).

It was the BA9 enroute to SYD from BKK; the BA12 SIN-SYD is operated by a 777 at the moment.
Apparently it was smoke on the flight deck, from the Capts air vent.
Could not have been much fun...
