Pilots in the circuit often don't hear transmissions which are not prefixed with their call sign. Hearing is the first thing to go when you are busy.
Instructors who talk too much don't help....

Nobody has mentioned weather. Based in Scotland (me too) plan on a dispatch rate of 20% for VFR and 80% IFR for a 150 mile trip. Nov-Feb maybe 5%. Is this practical for business use?
