i guess it's down to the different ATC systems in the US and Europe. In Europe the traffic heading up to MERIT or wherever would just be put under vectors 5nm...

I've also seen the same thing occasionally on the 757. There will be a discrepancy of a few miles or a minute or two between the two FMC's, usually for only a few minutes. Not too sure why! ...

FL190 is slightly too high for the ACMS datalink...

FL190 is slightly too high for the ACMS datalink to capture, so, as they fly over the home base, EGBE, they have to drop down slightly. They can then struggle back up to 190 once this has been done.
