Up until last year we used to keep the parking...

Up until last year we used to keep the parking brake on after on blocks but we switched back to Boeing SOP's and now we release the brakes after the chocks are in place.

All crew at all airliners in the world make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from them. Lets hope that the authorities decide to learn from this incident instead of just punishing the crew...

A flaps 1 departure on a 738 will only give you about 33 cm of tail clearance... thats not a very big buffer if you overrotate. A cause could be that there was more weight in Hold 3/4 then the load...

If you depart with minimum required fuel, do not get your requested flight level and have less tail wind than expected, then a fuel stop is a real possibility.
