ETOPS does not necessarily have to be over water.
The A319 did/does ETOPS between JNB-FIH regularly, 'twas just a matter of getting 2nd HF installed etc. The over water limitation comes about...

Ahhh the long road to CASA...

Have done so in 2006 myself.

1.You need to apply to CASA for an ARN (Aviation Reference Nr) as well as for an AUS ATPL based on a foreign ATPL. Costs +-300 AUD can't remember exactly.

I do indeed have more than 500hrs on A320. About 1000 now. And have a curreent ICAO LPC. Fly +-80hrs on it per month.
