Exclamation jetset ask jmc for 757 drivers.....rumour has it.

It would appear that Air2000 have approached jmc about some temporary 757 drivers for this summer.. .. .Rumours in Commonstealth House, Manchester abound that up to 17 type rated jocks are needed for the summer only.. .. .I hope that the jetset have looked after those laid off before sniffing about for other crews....it would not be on for us jmc boys to steal other people's livelihoods now would it???. .. .If there own lads and lasses are sorted now, then naturally this is ebbing towards being good news.. .. .Yours unreliably as ever,. .. .Tailcrapper.

It would be better news if the jobs were permanent rather than seasonal. With the Airtours temporary A320 contract - I hope this isn't a trend for the IT sector.

Just spoke to a mate in JMC who is likely to go down the tubes! He confirmed that their management have advertised summer Air2bob 757 positions for FOs who have been given notice. This is good news for them. I am little more reserved about the news since I was one of the 21 75 drivers that Air2bob laid off just before Christmas! Nobody has offered me my job back yet! . .. .Ask me how I feel? Just wonderful!. .. . . . . . [ 06 March 2002, 19:53: Message edited by: ChickenHawk ]

ChickenHawk,. .. .I am one of the 17 jmc guys who are down the road in May.. .. .Let me assure you of this, I will not be going to Air2000 if it means I have dislodged you.. .. .I am a very earnest BALPA member and I will be damned if I would want to be treated like that by anyone.. .. .I do however ask you: have you got another job yet?? If so, that is somewhat different.. .. .I cannot imagine AMM will want to take us JMC boys if they could get you back for the summer.. .. .After all there will be a cost to AMM of us going there. Sims, SOP's, Uniforms etc.....all cost money.. .. .Dan Winterland: Yes, a worrying trend indeed this summer only work. However jmc have offered us ALL a career break as opposed to redundancy. They will still dish out the redundancy pay if you take the break. Seniority will be maintained, as will payscales etc and you will have a guaranteed date of rejoining given to you when you head off.. .. .All in all, I will still have a full time job with jmc in the future if I want it. On exactly the same terms as I and all the other jmc team have right now.. .. .It has taken forever, but our CC have won quite a few battles for us, and I don't think the fight is out of us all just yet.. .. .Ding Ding, round 452. Lets get ready to rumble.....

Comforting to hear tailscrape and by the way I have not got a job yet. Sounds like you are getting a reasonable deal in the circumstances, and you still have DHL, Transair Sweden AB and a couple of other 757 users who are recruiting, albeit slowly, to look for jobs with. We got shown the door with a reference and 3 months in lieu of notice taxed.. .. .What beggars belief is that a company can offer another company's pilots jobs without first offering them to the guys they just made redundant!. . . . [ 06 March 2002, 20:31: Message edited by: ChickenHawk ]

Exclamation

Turbine One,. .. .Yes, you are right me old fruit. It is down to 16.. .. .I am still of the opinion that if we jmc guys are being sourced by the jetset, without their guys being reinstated, then that is completely incorrect in anyone's book.. .. .But I am assured that is not the case.. . . . [ 09 March 2002, 05:01: Message edited by: tailscrape ]

Am I surprised, it seems that jmc have followed Air2bobs lead in all these matters of redundancy and demotion but hats off to your CC mate they have engaged in constructive dialogue which has produced some real results, just a pity that you guys have to fall off the bottom. Thank you for your support anyhow guys.. .. .I paid my dues to BALPA, I wonder what they are going to say about this sorry affair, perhaps I will give my custom to IPA/IPF in future?. .. .Still waiting for a phone call..…………..am I holding my breath, I don't think so,but then it is only 8am and I’m not entitled to JSA until 17 Mar, so maybe I should wait till then!. .. .

ChickenHawk,. .. .I think you will hear something.. .. .We have, and our joining you is dependant on your returning to the fold before us coming along apparently.. .. .This is the only acceptable way forward, I am sure you will be back in very soon.. .. .Let us all know when the phone rings mate...
