Great videos. It's on the "smallish" side as tornadoes go in these parts but damned impressive in any case. It wouldn't take much of one to get my attention if I was in its path. I hope everyone and everything came out OK with nothing more than an interesting story to tell.

Most people use their "cameras" as phones and hold it thusly. Do you hold your phone sideways across your mouth? No. Law of primacy.
When you combine techs, one wins, and most people use the phone side first and the camera side second. Also, a tornado may fit in frame in portrait and not in landscape.

What a pity Ol' Cap'n Grouch didn't see the beauty I saw in the perfectly presented portrait of the tornado. What I truly appreciated about the video was the way the shot was composed precisely to capture the orientation and aspect ratio of the tornado itself, by cleverly orientating their filming equipment to give a taller rather than wider view. My viewing pleasure would have been severely curtailed if the shot had cut off either the top or the bottom of the tornado, whilst simultaneously distracting my attention with unwanted detail in the peripheries to the left and right of the main event. Although the tornado laid waste the landscape as best it could, for me, it presented a near perfect portrait.
Thinking about it, just as well it didn't happen in some Antipodean place, or the camera operator would have had to stand on their head to capture the full dramatic impact - for the perfect portrait of course!

Never heard of tornado shelters? They happily walk the apron just a hundered meters away from a tornado or stand behind a big glass window and take videos while steel light masts are broken like straws...

But yeah, before that stage of my life I was well conditioned to GTF down to the basement once the sirens went off. It's still good advice to seek an inside room away from any type of glass.
