Is anybody in the same situation as me, where they gave in and applied, paid £50, but as yet have no confirmation by email.
I applied about 2 weeks before Christmas.

Ryanair had a job on their site for an HR person recently.

Although strangely there was no £50.00 fee for these applicants.

Could this be due to the huge cost burden associated with the volume processing of 'troublesome' pilots as opposed to the trifling numbers of human resource officer
applicants?

Maybe if a pilot applicant requires a reply for his/her £50 does she/he have to pay more?

I think we should be told..

I understand that since the introduction of the charge - more than 95% of the applicants are appropriately qualified, as opposed to less than 25% before the charge.
Seems like a sensible move to me!

I applied about a week before xmas, but my credit card statement for December has yet to show Ryan taking any money. I don't know what to do now. If I get in touch through the on-line application, I stand to lose £100! Anyone with any ideas?

I think the idea is very poor form indeed.

What next? Charge the cost of running an interview? Paying for the sim ride?

(And, no. I'm not a bitter and twisted unsuccessful candidate).

'Our selection process involves a review of applications received via our on-line database followed by an interview and Simulator Assessment. There will be a processing fee for both interview and simulator assessment of STG£50 and STG£150 respectively'.

So, it's not next, it's now.
I am 737 rated, and recently unemployed. Am I going to apply? Dunno. Do I want to work for such a leech of a company? No, but desperate times...

The good thing about the 50 pound charge is that it makes it easier for the real applicants to come through. I know that easyjet had wasted a lot of time with Kl and HV pilots who answered to their ads in the Netherlands but who pulled out as late as after the sim check.... With the charge these guys leave the room and real applicants get on board faster..

What I want to know is, did Ryan get my application ok? I don't like paying £50, but I fully understand why they charge. I'm B737 rated, just what they must be looking for I hope, but I still don't know if my application went through the system, got lost or is being processed. Any ideas out there?

If FR haven't replied within a 'reasonable' period of time after their charge appears on your card statement, you are entitled to ask your card issuer for a refund. The definition of 'reasonable time' varies from card issuer to card issuer. Internet payments are classed as CNP transactions (Cardholder Not Present). So, if you don't get what you've paid for you, are entitled to a refund from the credit card issuer, who in turn will simply charge the amount back to FR. So don't get mad, get even, get a refund

It seems that all you lot who haven't yet had a reply, have missed out bits of the form stating your e-mail address. It clearly says that all communication will be done electronically, so just check if you have sent in ALL details to make sure.

I'm almost certain I included my e-mail address in the application. In these times of modern computer communications, leaving out such a vital bit of info is rather like shooting ones self in the foot, when job hunting! They certainly want the money- I had a call from the famous Declan whilst on holiday in the Antipodes. Got all excited thinking that maybe they were going to offer me a job (meet all the requirements for a DE Captain)-- all he wanted was to confirm the expiry date on my Visa card to make sure he got paid!! Nothing since other than newsletters!

I feel exactly the same, Im am completely sure that i included my e mail address, but so far heard nothing, fair enough i might be low hours, with 0 jet time, but i thought a reply would at least be courteous

The same applies to me: absolutely sure I included my e-mail-address in the application but, unfortunately, also no reply so far. I applied two months ago. There must be another reason for us not having received a reply, but hopefully it's only an insignificant reason.

You would have thought that if you pay for a service with credit card over the internet, the service provider would be legally obliged to provide you with some form of receipt. Surely the mere fact that a charge subsequently appears on your statement is not the same thing.

Can anyone shed light on this? Do they legally have to provide you with a receipt?

Any services rendered do require the provider to issue an invoice showing the VAT number etc.....
